Sorry guy but when what you say doesn't add up, people are going to naturally assume there is more to the story and what you're saying simply doesn't add up. Jobs in trucking are not THAT impossible to get. If you've got a valid CDL in your pocket and no one will hire you, then there is always more to the story.

Either you have something in your past they don't like or you haven't knocked on enough doors or there is something about your personality that no one likes or who knows what else. No one is accusing you of lying or anything like that. But if you really don't have any black marks in your past or anything like that, then I'd say the next most likely missing part of the story is that you simply haven't knocked on enough doors. You've got no experience and no recent training. Set your sights lower and apply to any and all companies (no matter how much you don't want to work for them) until you find one who will allow you to get a year of recent experience under your belt. Suck it up and work for them and a year will go by before you know it and then you can find a company you actually want to work for.

You won't be hired for OTR just because you have a CDL your not a recent driving grad anymore the shelf life is about 6months at best ,some companies as little as 90days.

It's the insurance regulations the companies have to follow when hiring ,they will tell you what you need if you ask. Some will require as little as a 80hr refresher course the better companies will want the whole 160hr driving course taken again.

They want you fresh out of school thats why they mostly advertise for recent grads , you had to wait because of personal reasons which basically means you have to start all over.

You could of had a CDL with 15 years driving experience but if you can't prove you've driven in the past six months they will require you take a refresher course again anyways.

you are most likely going to have to go with someone you don't want to and get 6mo to a year with them. then try some of the other company's again

    just keep your record clean

well i guess i will chime in here. i got my cdl through a third party tester in florida not a school...never went to a trucking school i didnt have the money at the time. well long story short i held it for close to 2 years with out finding a job no one would hire me because of lack of school or recent OTR experience.... well during the 2 years i moved up to Massachusetts and did some local landscaping jobs at the same time looking on Craigslist everyday looking for a trucking job well one day i came across a company that was looking for a driver i applied told a lil bull story and got me a road test...passed the road test and got hired now almost a year later im driving with the same company i drive a 05 kenworth w900l and im the top guy only second to the owner....it can be done but you will have to look high and low under every rock to find it. and when you do work hard dont mess up because if u do and you lose that job u gotta start the whole process over again if it happened before you got ur 1 year in...stick to the small guys they are probally gonna be ur only help. when i came onboard with my company we only had 3 trucks now we have 5

    Yo, What's up Miz860.
I'm in the same boat as you. Was at SNI orientation and had to leave.I know 6 months ago SNI had a refresher program before orientation( it was apilot run program ,no cost ) It was a basic 3 day go with road trainer and skills, and if you didn't meet their quota, no orientation.
PM me, I know of a few driving jobs outside of Phila.

You need to find out if USX dinged your DAC report. There ain't no telling what they said on it. If it's bad, dispute it with the FMLA laws.
You never know, just like opinions on here. The trainer could of said you quit because you weren't cut out for it. Next thing you know the office got that on the report taking the trainers word over yours.

You don't need a refresher because you never finished training. You need training.

You are within your 3 year hire period. I don't see why any company wouldn't give you a chance except for that DAC report.

Why is it hard to believe no one will hire a guy that hasn't driven a year after graduating? Most of the driver mills have 30-90 day limits to attend orientation after graduating or they will not look at you. If all you did was a very brief training stint they're not even going to consider that.

Have you talked to the school you attended? I know mine had a list of nearly 300 smaller companies in the local area the school was located. It wasn't something they gave you normally, you had to ask. Talk with someone in job placement and see what you can get.

Just go work 6 months for Werner. You just need a starter gig to build your resume. It may suck but you'll learn the ropes driving for them just like you would anywhere else. Then you can be a little pickier if you can manage to keep you record clean enough.
