Half a cent raise is just as absurd as paying for fuel that ends in 0.09 of a cent. I don't have a 0.09 of a cent in my bank. I've asked but I've yet to get a reply.
Half a cent raise is pitiful. I bet the big honcho in the ivory tower gets a lot more of a raise. It's laughable, and cheap.

If that's all they could afford , I'd tell them to keep it and find another job. Since if a decent pay raise isn't possible , they must be on the skids as a company anyhow. Better to leave , before they can't pay you.

Not a bad rate to begin with at 43 cents....sounds like they are putting up more money upfront, so the annual increase is less. It is better for you to get the higher rate up front.

There is this new thing, called a computer, that can calculate fractions of a penny quicker than you can blink your eyes. Most payroll systems calculate out to 4 places right of the decimal...so you could be paid .4301 cents per mile...the .0001 cent would take you 10,000 miles to earn a penny.

Only if you are paid off hub miles.
Many companies don't do any kind of standard annual raise based on your seniority. So just because a company who does only gives a half cent, that's bad? I'd say it's a half a cent a year better than the cheapo companies that dont.

Yes to me it is bad , that's one really big reason many trucking jobs pay really low wages....drivers accept the tiny increase as better than not getting anything...
    here is the math.
just using these numbers as an example...

    an average of 2,500 miles per week , on a pay scale of .43 a mile = $ 1075 a week ,
    now , $ 1075 x 52 weeks a year = 55,900...

an average of 2,500 miles per week , on a pay scale of .435 a mile = 1,087.50

    a difference of $ 12.50 a week.....or $ 650 a year...

$12.50 extra a week won't feed you for a day , won't buy the fuel to even get to work.....unless you bank that 12.50 every week for a year , you'll never see it.

This is why I would be seeking other employment , a driver that accepts that , also perpetuates it.
