So if one has 3 -Bar winches, folding the strap and passing it through till it sticks out the other side is OK, correct?

That is one thing my company doesn't really like us to do. They don't forbid us, they just don't like us to do it.

Yeah, that's where three bars winches shine. You can fold and half strap a regular winch if you can get it to fully pass through & out the opposing side, that essentially locks the strap to the winch. It's just not easy to get a folded strap out the other side like it is on the three bar.

    skellr Thanks this.

Kinedyne has the same info listed for the three bar winches; "12" of webbing must pass through and a minimum pf two wraps around the winch."
I have people come up to me all the time when I'm folding the strap and pushing it through and most of the time they say something like; "watch out for so and so state they like to check that"... Huh? Why should it matter if it's the end of the strap or a folded strap thats on the winch. as long as there is enough on the winch it's not going to slip out, youll break the strap before you can try and tighten it enough to slip out.

Then, I watch them do their straps pulling the end through and pulling out the slack before they tighten up the winch witch leaves a lot less than two wraps around the winch. How is that supposed to be the "safer/better" way? No comprende.

Forget what DOT and Reg book says; I strap under this: IF I FLIP THIS DARN TRUCK OVER, MY CARGO BETTER STAY ON MY TRAILER

You can take all the shorcuts you want and do the half to 1 ratio crap, if my load is 45k lbs I'm throwing 10-11 straps.
Lazy flatbedders shouldnt be pulling a skateboard.

by the regs the strap must pass completely through to be counted as a secure load.
