Ham Radio and Schneider National

ok when i bought this radio 2nd hand had no idea what I
was getting. I thought it was a juiced up cb, Ha its not.
So here is my question, with rf power on low, selecter switch on am, band switch on D, 10khz switch off, are you on standard cb channels 1-40 ? or are you just on
channel 19 for the above frequency? Are you transmitting on ham frequencys and cb 19 at the same time. please need some clarification, not a lecture

 

You are only transmitting on the frequency for 11 meter channel 19 just like you were using a compliant cb. If you move that band selector then you would be transmitting on ham/10 meter bands. General Lee is a good radio just stay off the "other bands" and you'll be fine.

 

I cringe when I see people using those radios. In theory, you need at least a ham Tech license to buy and use one of them because you could use them to talk on 10 meters. In reality, they are illegal for anyone to use because they have boosted wattage on CB and can operate on other modes (fm, cw) that were not intended for CB, and what person, who has a ham license, would use something like that to talk on 10 meters anyway.

 

thanks, so just that Im clear on this, I can move what i would call the channel selecter 1-40 and only be on cb
am band? no spilling over on ham bands? also does the echo on this radio cause a squeal when transmitting?
the mic is a astatic in case that matters, when radio is cold it sound great. But after being on all day a squeal develops. thanks for any help on this!

 

david07003 Im assuming you didnt read my post, If not do so, Im asking for help to make sure I stay off 10 meter!!!
already have the radio, was told its a cb. all my fault didnt know any better, now I do. Untill I can trade or sell it im stuck with it.
If you have any tecnical help on this unit I would appreciate it.

 

Put the band selector on D and leave it in AM mode and you will be good to go.

Im not knocking you. Sorry. I just hate cowboy CB mentality as a whole. Not you personally.

 

A General Lee on CW? I haven't seen one of those.

 

Perhaps you could undo the band selector switch, flip it to D, and then tuck it away inside the radio...wrapped up in electrical tape of course to prevent any shorts.

Or maybe see if you can have the radio hard wired on the D band only and remove the switch all together. That should keep ya off the ham bands.
