It means those that have the rig to "work" can do so without your god heads approval.
Strange how the powers fluctuate and confound the self perceived experts
Cold cash will always supersede formality,it worked for 8 yrs in the gulf war
Why couldn't it possibly trump BRUCE and his quest for Nazi FCC purity ?

Ain't that the truth. Just my little FT7900 has a slew of features I still haven't learned. Popped the cover off of my 257HP and it's mostly all microprocessors in there. Unlike the CB radios I've owned, some from the 1970's some from the 1980's and some from the 2000's....they all look the same inside....all 1970's technology. And they pretty much have all the same features too.

Also I believe there's less noise on the ham bands as opposed to the citizens band.

Only suckey thing is ham radios are far more expensive than a CB. But hams get creative with building their antennas or they buy them, whichever they feel like doing. I don't know if anyone builds their own radios anymore but I'd love to get into it.

You are right though, CB is really supposed to be a low cost business band, ham is a mostly hobby band, but is sometimes used for emergencies. I think most truck drivers really only see needing a CB for a tool for interstate and loading dock communication and that's it, but some people who really get into the radio hobby, go outside the wire and that's how they become hams.

A tech license will not allow you on 20 meters as for 10 meters it has been active in the last month ...
