I've been using the Hammer App for my trucking navigation for the last week and I have to say that I am quite pleased with the app overall. I have not been mislead on a single route. No bad turns, u-turns, restricted roads or anywhere else that a truck should not be.
The app is super simple to use and one of the best things about it is that it only needs one single permission to operate on an Android device. The app only needs permission to access location. No other crazy permissions like access to text messages, contacts, call history or like keeping your device awake or full network access.
I've been using Co-Pilot for the last 5 years on an Android tablet that I repurposed as a 10" navigation system. Co-Pilot can be somewhat difficult to use sometimes when attempting to input an address because you have to dang near input the perfect address or it won't get you even close to what you are looking for. I always felt like there were too many steps to go through when programming an address or searching for fuel. I got to the point several years ago to where I always compared Co-Pilot to Google Maps just to get the correct location and that gets old. There also has never been a satellite view in Co-Pilot where you can see the actual location, entry/exit, and if you can park on-site or even nearby.
Good job to the Hammer App Developer(s). This app has just been super simple to use and it has been dead on with it's routing. Thank you for the offline maps and for keeping the app free.
Hammer Nav. FTW
