I always thought that was just part of driving, and most anything else one does... Maybe its just me.

    (Long Post Warning)

Speaking of situational awareness, can anyone tell me why this happened?

Too much trailer. I'm seeing it more and more. I hate government regulation but RV salesmen have no shame.

No brake lights so I’m guessing the electric brakes on the trailer didn’t work and I agree with @spindrift that was a lot of trailer for a short wheelbase tow car. I think car manufacturers over state towing capacity.

Tail wagging the dog. Why does the tail wag? The driver saws the wheel.

MOST drivers in the US do this. The trailer emphasizes this. If your default setting is to saw the wheel, the tail wags. In bad weather, this is lethal. This is why some spin out and some don’t.
In trucking, we call it the Rookie Wiggle.

I respectfully disagree. It wasn’t the driver sawing the wheel. It was the fact that as the travel trailer went bouncing down the road it was raising the ### end of the jeep. then it would come down and raise the front end. That is why the driver wasn’t able to control it. When this happens the vehicle “saws” itself and the strongest person in the world can’t control it.

Basically they far exceeded the tongue weight and towing capacity of a jeep.

Precisely. Improper tongue weight, compounded by inadequate towing vehicle.

There's no better example of fishtailing than what is shown. Why it was induced can be argued. Inattentive driver making a radical course correction, even the flow of traffic inducing sway on a severely compromised tow rig. Whatever it was I make a point of staying clear of these folks. They're easy to spot.
