There are people who aren't handicapped that shouldn't be in trucks either, you know, the fat ones, who can't put on foot in front on the other while carrying a bag with 3 big Mountain Dews and a bag of Krispy Kremes and are panting like they just ran 26 miles.
My dad is 68 has had both knees replaced, one hip, and an elbow and he's still able to work 1/2 the people on this site under the table.

Let me stir this pot. As I have pointed out many times before and only do so now for the new comers, I am political. Handicap parking spaces are a great example of what is wrong with this country.
The idea of handicap parking spaces started because people in wheel chairs began to drive. They had hand controls on their vans. Robert T. Ironsides who at one time was Perry Mason, had a van. Wheel chairs need extra room to allow for their loading and unloading into the van or other vehicle. Period. It was about room to get the #### thing in the car.
I have a friend in a wheel chair because he got drunk and fell off a balcony. He will tell you that it doesn't matter where in the parking lot the handicap spots are because he doesn't have to walk anyway. He just needs room. The handicap spots should be located in the back. But because we are a kind nation we put the place up front. In the prime spots. Now everyone wants those spots, so everyone gets their doctor to give them a sticker. BS.
Go to a mall in the morning and you will see the handicap spots all full, why? Because the blue hairs are all in the mall walking for exercise an gossip. They should park in the back and walk for the exercise to the front. The same thing happened with Welfare and Social Security. People want others to make way for them.
I do not care if you have COPD, or a pregnant or use a walker or are fat or have bad knees. If you do not need extra room to open the door and get your wheel chair out, it should be first come first serve. Being handicapped is not a badge of honor. It is usually a sign you did something stupid. Like smoking all your life.
You are probably seeing why I lost the election for US Congress in 1996 and 1998.
The only truckers who should park in handicap parking are the SWIFT drivers who really do need more room to park.Buster Churry Thanks this. -
Not everyone is born with perfect health nor can control family genes. To judge others when you don't know the surrounding circumstances is just ignorance. Handicapped placards are obtained through your primary care physician filling out a form for the state DMV. He must feel you need it and meet the criteria before he even signs it.
I once was checking in at a Walmart and a driver come in bent over and every disc on his back and every joint on his body looked like bulging calcium deposits. I knew the guy was in pain but he done his job. I can't help but have respect for someone in his condition and determined to work.
Some people have circulatory diseases and can only walk short distances before the pain sets in and their legs feel like concrete blocks. Rested their muscles can collect oxygen. Walking they quickly exhaust it and the circulation can't keep up with the supply and demand. Do these people need handicap spaces? Yes because they are limited on distance. Can someone like this work? Yes if it's a job that doesn't involve a lot of walking. With trucking having handicapped spaces opens up many opportunities for some that normally couldn't make a decent wage in their condition.
Have family members get sick or even yourself and you'll look at handicap spaces in a whole different light.Blackshack46, teddy_bear6506, teqntexas and 3 others Thank this. -
Wooly RhinoI have a news flash for you, the reason you didn't get elected to congress was not because you are "political". More often than not our elected officials are the bottom of the barrel. Another news flash you are not even in the barrel. That is about about as polite as I can say it with out getting censored.
Blackshack46, Numb and TruckChicken Thank this. -
I do agree that handicap permits get abused, just like any other government mandated privilege. But you go beyond that and make a sweeping judgement about any and all people that aren't wheeling out on a ramp. Maybe you need to pull your self-righteous head out of your behind and get to know a few handicappers that aren't in a chair before staring down your holier than thou beak at them.
My sister uses a handicap permit. If you met her in person you wouldn't know that she was born with cerebal palsy along with other birth defects, and wasn't expected to survive more than a month or two 44 yrs ago, nor anything about the dozens of surgeries she's gone through to achieve some level of normal.
So she must be part of the entitled or have done something stupid since she only has corrective insoles at the moment instead of a wheel chair?
What a maroon.Blackshack46 and 12 ga Thank this.
