They might have a condition that doesn't effect their driving but it does walking any distance.

I havei seen articles in magazines of drivers in wheel chairs driving modified tractors. I know a driver personally that had a bad motorcycle accident and has trouble walking any distance and has a handicap permit. He can pass DOT physical. There are probably many such scenarios.

You also have RVs that use truck parking and/or passengers in the truck.

I agree with the idea and the enforcement of handicap spots, used to take my grandmother to the store and other place and she was handcapped but I don't agree that if you are driving a truck you should have a handicap sticker. If you can't secure your own load, walk around the truck to do a pretrip or what ever it is that prevents you from doing physically active work, then you don't need to be driving a truck.

It is very possible to have bad knees, etc that prevent a driver from walking a great distance and still be able to walk the truck and secure the load.

I got a purple heart so if I really wanted to I could get one but I'm not lazy and fully capable of walking.
