I like the 3x5 card method. After the delivery it goes into a file in case I ever go back. Directions on the front and specific notes (scale locations, racks etc) on the back about where to go once I get there. The notes usually are written after the first time but really help if I go back months later.
Handy tip for newbies....

Works just fine at night, but you gotta write the numbers lower on the windshield. Otherwise, yeah you cant see your writing anymore.
One thing I would caution a new driver on doing this. Write only the minimum you need, don't scribble all over the place. Write the highway number you need, the exit numbers and the direction of travel. Use as only a reminder.
Example:
I-40 S
I-15 S - to Fontana
X112 W to Rochester Ave -
The quote I used read upper left hand of windshield. Darkness, rain, headlights. A lot of things can make it tough to see your route if it is on a windshield at night. I always used a suction cup on the windshield with a clipboard clip on it. If need be I can easily remove it to see my directions without putting a flashlight on the windshield to annoy oncoming cars. My dome light I can see the paper.

Just write on all 4 corners. Oh, I know mount driving lights on your visor to back light the note, That way you only need to write it in 1 place.
Is all that too much, Maybe they should make a pad on paper with a temporary adhesive across to top so it would stick on surfaces like dashboards and windshields. Maybe even available in different sizes and colors. I bet it would sell really well..... Na I like the reading lite on the visor better.

Yeah; your right the 30 cent suction cup available at any truck stop is a bad idea. Better off to buy the 30 dollar note pad and velcro so you get dinged for putting it on the dash or drilling holes in someone else's truck...

Yeah; trying to decide if I want to drive and haul them or stay in the plant as a inspectors assistant. I still have a couple weeks to decide.
