Nice to hear someone tell a good story on here . DOT is a good company , I know a driver near where I live who is with them, he loves it . I've thought about applying there a few times .

Too many super trucker wannabes out and around these days. All worries about what engine is under the hood , what amenities that have in the truck, what headset is the latest and coolest , what CB setup is the most ###### .......My first job , I didn't care about any of that stuff as long as the truck was safe , and allowed me to run the loads I was assigned , I didn't care for those first 2 years or so. And I'm one of those who went to company sponsored training for low pay at a bottom feeder mega carrier .....I just did my job, and was safe ......everything else came in due time

@Kw680 you did it right. Get your chops at a starter company and put in enough time to get a decent resume going. Then look to "work up".

Too many drivers job hop. It can be a deal breaker if you have too many jobs in X years. You stayed a bit over a year at your first gig and that is now paying dividends.

It's also refreshing to hear you say that you liked your time with your first company. I did two years with Swift before landing my current gig over two years ago. Late last year I bought my own truck and leased on with the company. I enjoyed my time with Swift.

By the way, the T680 is a decent truck. I drove a couple of them at Swift. It was far more stable in snow and ice than the Cascadia.
