This same argument could be made about a multitude of issues as it relates to trucking. Bureaucrats who have never set foot in a truck set the rules because they own the playground, simple as that. The smart ones will figure it out while the "Negative Nancy's" will bumble along until they are forced out or leave willfully. One size fits all never works for everyone but according to my ATA Facts for Drivers that I studied for the state Driving Championships, accidents are decreasing, so it's hard to argue the new regulations are making things worse.

The thing about stats is they are always a bit skewed depending on who collects the data and what their intention is. There are also more drivers on the road, so you can have the same amount of wrecks or even more and still have a lower precentage of wrecks compared to years past:

So look at Schinder, have one of the best safety scores in the biz, we know that schinder pumps out new cdl students and people avoid those trucks like they would swift and etc,,,,, but the numbers are in their favor.

When you have two drivers and one messes up, "half your fleet" is a statistic. But if you have 4000 drivers and 40 drivers have preventable accidents, only one percent of your fleet is deemed unsafe.

    Statistics can be skewed

Right now 62, they're going to bump it up to 65 On cruise.

But when I'm in a car or pickup I piddle around at 45 to 50 in a 55 or 60 mph zone.
I don't understand why everyone has to speed everywhere and for no reason.

If they can do it safely I don't mind.

Yeah, I know, 11 hours is the maximum anyone could drive safely before taking a 10 hour break. :)

Just because we are on paper logs doesn't mean we're "outlaws". Stop putting words into people's mouths. The reason the megas wouldn't be able to function on paper logs is because they hire incompetent drivers that can't think for themselves and need to be told when they can do theire job. If you like e logs good for you but there is no need for us safe compliant owner operators to be forced onto something that there is no need for.

    I've ran paper and elogs
    BUT
I think a lot of us enjoy reading and sensing the fear that paper log drivers have about having to log legal.
I love it, these drivers act like they can't survive logging legal.

Every last one of them thinks the elog will shut them down 15 miles from home.

There really is no fear about e logs. Its the fact that we are forced to use them.

    Joetro and Rocks Thank this.
