When you grease the truck do you Jack up the front axle till the front tires are off the ground and turn tires all the way to the left then grease kingpin then turn tires all the way to the right and grease kingpin again...i have been told that's the best way because sometimes the kingpins will get dry if ya don't grease it this way..

Having a similar problem with a Ferrara fire truck. It’s a Cabover design and is having some hard spots when turn left or right no matter what position the wheels are and having trouble returning to the straight position after a turn. It’s feels as if a u-joint would be hanging up, but during visual inspection all seems to be moving ok, including the rest of the steering components. It’s been to a local shop twice with no success (I’d recommend a new shop but that decision is above my pay grade). I can’t exactly start tearing it down and doing a thorough inspection, but suggestions on things to check without taking the truck out of service would be appreciated.

99% it will be a steer shaft u joint. Removal from where yoke's attach, one by one, until you find the bad joint is the only way to test properly for sure. Naked eye will make you think that the joints are working properly.
