TowN704 There's nothing wrong with swift big company yeah, but there are always good and bad in any job. It always seems we only here the bad and focus on it. Call and see what they have to offer I did the research and ended up going with swift myself. Time will tell if any of the negative things are true.
TomN704 Second I agree about getting your foot in the door and getting the experience and with all the endorsements you have they will really like you.
I think that's a wrong move to wait. You may find everything is closed to you but at least you found out. What's going to happen if you find a mega carrier and you start thinking "what would have happen if I went out door to door". I don't know about you be it would bug me to death. When I went out looking for work I tried every method I could think of. I talked with drivers. I went door to door. I called. I checked the paper and any other advertisement. My point is you try all you can so when you do find a job you will know you gave it your all and you didn't skip that dream job because you didn't look.
The longer you wait, the harder its going to be for you. Most of your mega carriers only hired students from trucking schools that when to trucking school within the last 90 days. You said March now its July your pass that 90 days mark. Now if you call Swift or Werner, they might not take you.
Not true.Werner took my one son 5 months after he finished school.Swift is taking his twin brother 2 years after he got the CDL A.They will just require more hours of training time. They are looking for cheap labor and will take anybody who passes the drug test and doesn't have a horrible abstract(DWI,accidents, multiple speeding tickets etc)We are in North Jersey too, Werners Allentown terminal is closer than Swifts Harrisberg location, but due to the way Werners terminated his brother,he's going to try swift.Training pay is better with Swift.
Hey guys I just wanted to say thank you again for all the replies that I got from everyone. I applied to swift a few hrs ago. Let's see what happens.
You'll have new opportunities at 6 months, 1 year and two years. It'll go quicker than you think. A year from now you can find a good job. The 2 year requirement jobs are usually the best. You live in a high freight area so anyone will hire you. Good luck!
