Looking for advice. Trying to start bus line from Reno to Phoenix. Can't find enough drivers. How come it's so hard to get applicants with P endorsement who aren't convicted felons? We're paying the best in Reno; twice as much as school bus. Perhaps I'm not posting in the right place?

No advice, but drivers can't be found for trucks that can be trusted. Some of my more trustworthy people are former felons, which is a kick.

Was just talking to the greyhound driver on the way to orientation.
You had to ruin my whole plan with your felony bs .

Maybe it’s the pay. Around here school bus drivers make between 10-12. I would never haul a bunch of idiots around for 20-24 bucks and hour.
D.Tibbitt, JoeyJunk, VIDEODROME and 7 others Thank this. -
How much do school bus drivers get paid out there? Out my way those people are lucky to make minimum wage or slightly more than minimum wage to drive a school bus part-time.
The only people that want a job like that are people that are retired and want something to do with some of their spare time. -
Can't help ya'. There was a time, not too long ago, stage coach drivers were the cream of the crop. I had the utmost respect for them, responsible for 43 lives, with no communication ( before cell phones). I still think they are the best drivers, but every stage coach driver I see is an old man. I just don't think younger folks want that kind of responsibility today.

In my neck of the woods, the local school district pays 17.50 , part time. Like you said great job for someone who is retired and likes kids I suppose. But as a young guy, 17.50 part time doesn't pay the bills.
But if the op is offering 35 an hour and full time employment, plus benefits. He shouldn't be having to much of a problem.Dave_in_AZ, NavigatorWife, rabbiporkchop and 1 other person Thank this.
