As far as the comcast thing, they cannot sue or collect on anything over 7 years old, no matter what they try to tell you. They also have to prove in court that it was you who actually owe the entire bill, which they can't. They're trying to bully you into paying. Go over to dslreports and post your story there. It's probably good enough to get an article written about it and that should be enough to embarrass them into leaving you alone.

For the CDL, try some other offices. Just play dumb. Act like you've never tried it before and you don't know about their goofy rules. Take what proof of residency you have and volunteer no information. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone there will accept it.

Its amazing what one drivers license station will let you do, and the next one just says no. As stated above, offer no info other than what is specifically asked, and above all else be nice.

Not so long ago I was declined access to open a new PO Box, as I didnt have "enough" proof of residence with me. Apparently my drivers license, and social security card, checking account, check book, credit/debit cards all with my name on them wasn't good enough for the USPS! They would "however" accept an electric company bill.

Also, at this point in time it sounds like you have a family to take care of. You really need to consider asking uncle Sam for some assistance.

Around here (and this varies state to state) bill collectors only have 3 years to collect a debt, and then it must be removed. Looks like in Tennessee its 6 years.

    Good advice!

Here in NC, the DMV now mails your drivers license to your house instead of handing it over the counter to you at the local office. They say it's to help thwart ID theft.

They started that in Nebraska too. I'm wondering when we'll get the money back for all the computers, networking, and fancy printers they put in the DMV offices to print the licenses right there.

    So true!

Seems like the local offices will have some idle time on their hands now.

Oh yes i just love this new system NC has, its SO much safer lol. When they sent my CDL with my new address on it, it was in a normal envelope and the mailman put it in the wrong mailbox and who ever got it left it on top of the mail box thing out where anyone could have taken it.

I hear ya. We live on a mountain and the closest the PO will come to delivering mail to our house is if we had a box at the bottom of the lil hill. Well, there are times where there's so much snow that we might not be able to get down for days at a time. I don't like the idea of our mail sitting down there in a box, that anyone has access to, for such a long period of time. We opt to have a box at the PO instead.

It seems like handing the license to you in person is a lot more secure than sending it out in the wild blue yonder and hoping it gets where it's going. These politicians are completely devoid of common sense anymore.
