Thinking out and working a plan is key. Put everything away in the same spot the same way every time. I can immediately find any piece of equipment I want in the dark with no lights. Roll your tarps carefully, the same way every time. They go on easier because you aren't fighting and shifting them. And get a strap winder too. I dont recommend keeping your straps wound on winches when not in use. They get wet, muddy and nasty. It doesnt make sense to tarp really nice after having thrown wet muddy straps over a load you want to keep clean and dry. Flatbedding can be kinda hard at times. Like strapping and lumber tarping a load of birdfeed in Oakes, ND when it is 15 below and 25 mph winds. But getting it done and geting it delivered claim free is so much more fulfilling than just slamming some van doors.

It depends a lot on the load. I've got a rigging load on now. A couple big presses, hydraulic pumps, air filtration, shelving, a bunch of other machines I don't know what they are. About 9 hours, 8 chains and binders, 11 straps, 4 tarps, 12 furniture blankets, and 127 or so bungees later and yah I'm beat !!

Alot of yer basic 4' drop loads like steel or shingles isn't really that bad to do. yer 8' drop stuff like lumber or insulation is a little more time consuming, but it gets the blood pumping a bit, it's good for you.

I refuse to tarp shingles.... It's just the principle of things.

You just wait until you pick up a load of tarps and they ask you to tarp it !
