Harvesting/Oversize load questions

    Thanks, good idea will do. One more quick question. Does anyone know if harvesters are required to go throught port of entries? and if so anyone have any suggestions on how to keep dot happy?

    Yes you have to go thru them. when I was going we did not have to keep logs, I dont know about now. As for keeping them happy, as long as your boss keeps all the permits needed there shouldn't be a problem. I did once get a 100.00 fine for traveling down the interstate in Nebraska for not having a permit, but it was cheaper for the boss to pay the fine than pay for the permits for all the trucks(I was the last one and didn't make it to truckstop in time). I don't now about now but most of the time we just went a different route to avoid scale and port of entries. Colorado was the worst I dont think there is a way in or out of there to avoid them.

    Two kinds of 15...15 over, and 15 under. The difference is where 14 and 15 are located. Like Gas said, check the specs on the door.

    with the 15, unless you are very heavy, you won't use the bottom gears (1-5) you will most likely start out in 6-7, basically the same as a ten with 5 more powerful low gears.

    15 under...the 14th is shift stick to the back, then up to 15...and just the opposite in the standard 15.
