I lived in incheon ten years prior to coming back here.

I put in my 18 months company driving and just bought my first truck.

Trust me, you need the experience working under someone else's insurance with their equipment bf going out on your own.

    Pm me

Pick a truck you might like to buy and price the insurance .
With no experience, the quotes will blow your mind.
And 99% of companys wont lease you on because of no experience.

Is that seriously for real? I know Mercer requires a year. I'm not an O/O.... just a happy guy with a sweet Pete that still has bossman's name on the ppwk, and we both bank.

At least if I buy this gal, I've got accounts and years experience behind me; never knew that, tho.

Six, you never cease to amaze me. Much respect, man. Wish I had your *insert word here* at your age, for sure.
Didn't know you with the new avatar.... was taken aback for a min, then...it all falls into place.

It seems to be a common thought that being an owner operator is easier than being a company driver.

You know how you hear people complain that their dispatcher forced them to drive tired? Or they complain about the air conditioning not working. Or about requesting hometime. Pick just about ANY complaint that company drivers can have and ask an owner operator if he deals with the same thing.

Every aspect of driving OP is trying to avoid by buying the truck, he will have to deal with. Isn't that right, @Broke Down 69 and @cnsper?

    G13Tomcat and dennisroc Thank this.

What is air conditioning? Actually as an owner op you will have more on your shoulders. For only a couple of years,eh I would skip this idea. Two years is barely time to get an idea what it really takes to make it.

I never said anything about going all in , I am just asking if anyone has ever done it before. I am doing research , lol
And thanks for your support to another member of this website.
I was just about ready to make out the check.
    I found a 1967 Pete with 3 million miles for $ 180k , does this sound like a good idea ?
Has a lot of rust and bald tires , passenger seat missing , there is a hammock in the sleeper coz the rats chewed up the mattress , windshield is cracked but no worries ( Duct tape ) They say it needs a transmission , that should be cheap , right ?
No fridge or microwave but has Styrofoam cooler although cracked ( again duct tape ) and a small charcoal grill.
No APU but it does have holes in the floor for a breeze on the hot days and gets heat off the exhaust on those cold winter nights.
Here is what really got me interested :
Your going to love this , it comes with a " FREE " CB radio ( just needs antenna and a little work.
Here is the kicker , no GPS but it has the truckers road atlas and its dated same year as the truck.
I figure I can pick up a lawn chair at a truck stop for the wife since passenger seat is missing and the dogs can ride in the hammock.
I'm figuring on getting around 50 mpg since it is mostly highway miles , I will have that new CB antenna and lawn chair within 6 months after them big ole checks start rolling in. I will be hauling as much freight as that truck will hold since weigh stations are not mandatory anymore and you can drive as many hours as you want , I'm figuring on 18 hrs per day and of course a 30 minute break is mandatory after 15 hrs driving.

See and you think I'm jumping in with no knowledge of the trucking industry.
Looks pretty easy to me !

Thanks again for the good advice :)
