Has anybody gone from 4 weeks out/1 week home to 4 weeks out/4 days home and gotten used to it?

Do you know if Danny Herman hires out of Florida ?

 

They do not. The closest they get is South Carolina and Georgia.

I have my driver working 4-5 weeks and go home for 7-10 days after . He did choose this schedule .

 

No I have never gotten used to a schedule like that. I'm taking two weeks home time. That's after 6 months on the road. ... I know.... I'm a wimp...

 

Buy a used Cascadia and lease on as an O/O and get all the hometime you want.

 

I make my own schedule. after about 2 weeks I start to get Road Rash and miss my kids.

From Los Angeles I do a long run up to the Notheast or Florida ...then a small run from Northeast south or from Florida up....that takes about 70 hours....do a reset then head up to Washington then from the Northwest south to LA for the other 70 in 8 days..

Being back home for a few days is always good so you can check on things, see the kids and relax a little...

you can run 750 miles a day but only in the Midwest and at night where the speed limit is between 65-70 mph....otherwise you'll average in the 600's

I mean what good is working all the time if you get time to enjoy the fruits of your labor?
I say this a single dad who co-parents with the ex.
even if you have no kids, going home and chillin with some friends being social having some beers helps keep your sanity

 

Do you work for yourself as an O/O or are you a company driver?

Do you at least take resets once in a while if you're staying out a whole 6 months at a time? Do you enjoy staying out for that long or is their some kind of financial goal you are pursuing?

The longest I ever stayed out was 2 - 2.5 months, I can't remember it was something like that. I don't think I could go a whole 6 months OTR unless I took "hometime" at a hotel away from the truck for a week a few times during that 6 months.

 

Company driver. Dry Van. Schedule works out pretty good for me. I couldn't go long with reefer. It's too much.
I actually plan to stay out 3 months. Then a week off. That's a ful 7 days at home. With 2 more for travel back and forth.
This time. The rental car company wanted $700 for a car and had to return it there. I said no.
Scheduled a car 3 months later. $239 one way.
I'm taking a full two weeks at home. With two more days for travel back and forth.
Company says: Sure.... you can take all the home time you want.
I'm taking my own car back to terminal.
Owner is allowing me to put up a garage tent to keep my car in.
He loves his drivers.
I like my schedule. It's more that in only 5 days or less of home time. I feel like i just got there. This way. I actually feel like I got away from work.
I don't like hotels. Spent too much time in them when younger. I like my truck. Comfortable sleeping in there. When off or down. I'm one of those who gets out alot. Walk around. Get nosy. Whatever.
I like to sit outside Pilot. Tell everyone to watch out for those two guys with the round tops at the end of the planter there. All they do is talk trash.

And I love animals. I just gots ta greet all the doggies. Maybe I'm more comfortable in my truck because I got me a co driver. She can make it more difficult to sleep

 

One drawback to my schedule.
It's taken over two days to get used to not hitting the engine brake lever. All I get with these cars is the windshield wipers wiping.
