My boss sat us all down one saturday morning and showed us exactly what it takes to run a driver and a truck down the road. If you break it down by the mile It takes around $1.08 a mile to run a truck and driver. After thats cover he makes his money.

$1.08 a mile after driver pay???

After going over and over and over what kind of expenses I'd likely face as an O/O, I keep coming up with $1.15-$1.25 a mile based on 2,500-3,000.

Hell, fuel alone costs 60-70cpm by itself, plus your standard 32cpm for pay...plus truck & trailer, insurance, etc etc.

If my boss' expenses are $1.08 a mile, then I can't see how he can not find loads for his drivers. I'd have to think something was horribly wrong at the office.

BTW...is $1.25 a mile a good estimate for an O/O, not including my own pay?

They called me and things have been pretty rough but I heard so many bad things about JB I didn't call them back. Glad to hear a different in the above statements. Still my friends tell me "no way" getting mixed signals no doubt. Looks like I'm finally headed back to hauling frac sand after more than a month off. But if things got bad enough I was sure about to give JB a call. Hell at some point reality kicks in and your forced to make some tough calls.

One of the good things about the power only program is that you're not tied down to them in anyway. You run under your own authority and come and go as you please.

JBHunt will cover all bases and is very persistant. Last time I placed an online resume, they called me at least 30 times. I finally had to crack on the guy and tell him to stop calling me. They are worse than a bill collector. :)
