That's what I prefer; OTR irregular route. Keeps drivers moving.

We Don Need No Stinkin Toilet Paper, We Use Wet Wipes.

Wet Wipes Will Get You Thru Times Of No Toilet Paper Better Than Toilet Paper Through Times Of No Wet Wipes.

There’s something you aren’t saying. Western Express will still take you though!

That wont stop anyone from getting cdl. However, that might of be reason for silent treatment from recruiter.

I love how everyone blames the companies and rarely the "driver" . A lot of folks just aren't meant for this industry no matter the quality of or lack there of in training. We just had one quit ( at least I assume it was quit could have gotten promoted to customer though) after 2 days on his first account. Lacked time management, ambition, and not much work ethic. I've seen some that are just accident prone for various reasons. A lot of them realize that it is not all the post card stories they hear about and get out because they thought they were going to see the country and be able to sight see every chance they got, not watching it go by in their window. Get frustrated and get out. Many can't handle the schedule and how much time away from friends and family it takes.
If you are still pressing for a certain company I would try and see if you could talk to a different recruiter or call the company directly to get updates or a push.

Original poster, I would not let it deter you. Yes there might be a slight slow down but it’s not gonna last very long and companies are so desperate for decent drivers they’ll find a way to keep you busy. Any company that thinks because there’s a slow down coming, “ oh we don’t need to hire drivers now“ is dreaming. First of all the average slow down lasts anywhere from 6 to 12 months. And the rebound comes fast and furious and trucking companies never are able to keep up with it. Smart companies will use this time to try and hoard drivers.
