At the beginning I was out for 4 months solid, taking a reset whenever possible at any random truck stop. I still had to fight to get back to the house because of a mix up with loads.
The worst part about it is, that dispatcher and terminal manager has been long gone, and so have the memories of all those hard months. Where's the justice for the favors done in working long months.
To be truthful though, I had bills to catch up on so I'd rather powerhouse through to catch up on debts. Now I go home twice a month for a few days. I like listening to the frogs and crickets at home anyways.
Has this situation ever occurred?

Design Transportation out of Dallas, TX hired me way before anyone should have. I really didn't know how to drive. I had 3 years experience at the time but it was driving up and down I 35 from Kansas City to Houston. When I got to Houston my partner would back into the dock. So I really lacked backing skills. Design had just gotten a new run out of Edwardsville, Kansas which is close to my home so they hired me. I rode a bus down to Dallas. I hate riding buses. I got there and they wanted me to do the test drive right then. I told them I needed some sleep. They said no. So I pulled out of the dock and hit the trailer next to me. I made it 12 feet. That should have been enough but they had me retake the test the next day and well rested I did fine. Took my first run to the North East. It was fun. Second week on the job was all Texas. I was suppose to deliver a load of mattresses to San Antonio. No one told me I was to collect money for the mattresses from the receiver. So I didn't. I also had trouble hitting the wide open dock. I ran out of hours and thought I had to do my 10 hours before I could leave. The customer complained and Design fired me because of the complaint from a customer who didn't even pay for the load. I have no problem with Design for firing me. I was not ready to drive.
Now Transport America was different. I got fired there because they assigned me a racist sexist pig to work with. He called safety on me and I told safety I would not have even reported the BS he was complaining about. They fired me and I got put out of the truck in a small town in Indiana. I had to fight my way home, beating off wolves along the way. Actually, I called Dad and he sent the plane to pick me up but it could have been scary.Florida Playboy Thanks this.
