I drove a cat 740 like the one shock therapy posted a picture of. I did that back in like 2002 for a while. I absolutely loved doing that. Never drove the big 100 ton quarry trucks but imagine that's just as fun. I kept my truck super clean and drove with my shoes off listening to howard stern and just talking trash all day on the 2 way radios with the other operators. fun ####. Not as fun as driving my peterbilt though. Some people like driving articulated haulers and quarry trucks and some don't. Some people love raisin bread but that I cant stand raisins. You get the picture

A friend of mine drives one of the big dumps in an open pit mine in Nevada.
He says he makes good money but it can be boring and the scenery sure isn't much.

My friend is running one removing overburden at gold mine site here in Ontario. It sucks, only $20 per hour, camp job. I think he is only doing it so he does not have to deal with the idiots on the highway:)

I ran fuel to some mines in NV for about 5 years and got to talk to a lot of haul truck drivers they were mostly at the bottom of the barrel but you gotta start someplace had a friend that worked at Cortez too and he hated it lots of big company rules the kind of rules that were mostly for their convenience

I hope that isn't like the Volvo I ran a few days that has the heated bodies. I remember my boss, who is still my boss that I sub out to quite a bit, showing me how to run it. About all that he told me was "Don't tip it over cause that special exhaust fitting is about $800!"

Really I'd rather do on site work in a rock truck, but I like the paycheck from running my dump truck on site more vs running someone else's rock truck.
