hauling doubles and triples

Well i went from running OTR teams making $65,000 a year. Out for 4 weeks at a time.
To $80,000 a year running doubles as a team home every weekend.
So yes doubles increased my pay alot.

 

Looks like you're gulf states? I can only tell you what I know up here in the Northwest, having worked for 18 years as a FedEx Freight P&D driver.
FedEx requires doubles/triples and hazmat endorsements of all their drivers, both line and P&D.From what I understand, the east coast doesn't utilize them as much, but over here, I was handling sets on a daily basis, sometimes up to 3 or 4 per day. We were paid by the hour, and there was no increase for sets, it was just part of the job. The line drivers (FedEx calls them "road drivers") are a different story. They're paid by the mile, plus drop/hook pay, detention pay, and some other stuff, I'm sure. Currently over here they make .65/mile for hauling either 53' rail cans or sets, and .70/mile for triples. Most of them are home daily, with only a handful doing layovers before coming back the next night.

As stated above, out here P&D was required to pull sets as needed.

I currently run reefer, but was interested in joining the doubles/triples club. How much experience is required for triples alone?
