Nah, you just used the wrong mathematical formula. 14 inch compression at the front, combined with 14 inch extension at the back is 28 inches total travel, isn't it?

So here is an update,Cpape you were almost right on, I had to raise the truck 7" to get the clearance when backed on the trailer. This gave me about 4" over the rear deck. Looked weird but rode fine. The one I have on now went on head first and had enough clearance to just fit in the well, Maybe 4" to the neck. No tie down points - so I had to chain the axles. What a pain given the limited clearance and me being a fat - er large - guy.I will post pictures after I deliver the 2nd one on Friday

Don't afraid to ask for advice when you pick this, thats assuming that your picking it up at the production plant. The only stupid question you ask is the one you don't ask.

And the only stupid answer is the one you give the DOT as for the reason it came off the trailer

yeah...I've hauled a few. Always carry 6 12"wx3'L 1"thick planks you can build up to make a ramp

I think we hauled the same fire truck. I took one to the Air Force Academy and one to March ARB.
I used 2 x10 5 layers high for the ramp.

They were not bad to haul, except no tie down points.

Folks looked at me strange hauling a a fire truck out of Colorado last week

Always had a special fondness for fire trucks. Theyre fun to drive with the lights n siren on.
