Lumber is often loaded heavy...as much as you will take and some places put more than is legal if you don't pay attention.
Sometimes the loaders are super smart. Sometimes they're hungover high school dropouts. Good luck knowing which. Also...they probably don't know how trucks have to scale until they've had plenty of pissed off return drivers so if it's a youngster...

What's is this... 'Too many straps' thing of which you speak? Are they tucked into winches? Then they fit... so they belong....

My boss was just whining that it took to long to load and strap even though I had to wait 45 mins till it was my turn to get loaded. He never came out and said I did not need to put 3 straps on each section he said other guys just put 2 on the front and back sections and 1 on the middle sections. But I would rather spend a little more time strapping and less worried since I am always am concerned about the load.
I just wanted to know what others do. I don't think it would change my mind but I like to get all information and decide what would work best for me.

I would have used the same amount of straps. The only thing I would do differently is the way you secured the straps to the rub rail.

if you put extra straps on; how much time does it really cost?
I rather over secure than under secure/no such thing as tied on too well.

Dont worry about other guys securement. If u feel comfortable with no less than 3 straps then thats what u do. Tell boss man to pound sand . Those extra straps may just save ur life one day.

What’s with the straps on the back 1/2 of the load pulling to the ditch and the front half to the center line....?
