Hauling Onions

Depends on where you load onions and when they were picked and where stored--if just picked they typically have quite a bit of water weight--that is why so often 900 50#bags can really weigh 47k plus and onions usually pay by hundred weight---other thing to check is where it is going---wish i had a dollar for every time I have been to grocery whse(I pull a reefer)and some poor skateboarder pulls in w/;oad of onions on deck and no one will unload--the lumpers REFUSE to go out on the deck w/out walls! Also seen em loaded from ground on deck--there fore pallets sideway--so even if you wanted to pull them off yourself w/pump jack you can't pick em up....

I'm glad I will never have to haul a load of them. Sounds like they can be a pain.

 

Onions but TQL is not far from the list of somebody to not haul for. I've never had a serious issue but the slick used car salesman way of talking gets a little old.

 

Onions are really one of the easier produce items to haul.Just need a little air circulation.

 

every load of onions ive seen on the west coast the driver just unrolled his tarps out on top of the onions and left the sides and front and rear exposed but they would be screwed if it started raining

 

If the OP searched, we a;ready have an onion and a I HATE TQL threads in progress.

 

Bad Idea the tarps will get a lot Hotter than the walls of a dry van and if you don't have vents you can smell them smokin in the truck stop parking lot & you will be saying somebody is cooking some good sh@@@@t

 

Ran reds out of the NW for years. Reefers the only way to roll.
