    I appreciate the responses. I knew there had to be a viable reason why you don't see the megas doing something like that. I also wondered if the height of the banisters or pickets would be an issue and as macavoy said, it is.

    Sometimes I have way too much time on my hands and I let my mind wander.

    There is such a thing as a pole trailer which is kind of like a log trailer without the pickets. These are mainly used to transport long sections of line pipe. My uncle also experimented with using a log bunk and a pintle draw log trailer for hauling line pipe which worked well as long as you were on a big job.
