I never strapped over tarps as that is hard on the tarps and I wanted to see what I was strapping. Twisting the straps is an old trick to keep them from vibrating in the wind and I always did it but I've been told that a rule was passed prohibiting any twists in the straps. V boards would work ok but I've also seen 4x4's put across each top side the length of the load and strapped onto that. Looks like it would work quite well.

Gotta love a SuperSack load.... not! Done 'em often, and we usually have someone help with the tarp. Then I'll strap with two up front with an X on top, so as to have the strap come up at the front and down on the back corner across. One the rest of the way back, and check often, that is the real theme on these loads. But the tarp job is where they kill ya, it's dirty and if your alone and have to climb on board things can get dangerous. Offloading is a breeze and ours pays decent, good luck on your end!

As to doing the tarp first, on these it does work best for me personally, never had any issues with bags. Hate doing it with other products.

Usually on most loads you wouldnt strap over tarps but it is the best way I have found when hauling super sacks. I have done lots of these loads and have found that it works best this way with these for whatever reason.
Do you have a link to that rule regarding the twists? I have had a recent level 1 in Oregon with super sacks on and my straps had the twists and on the outside of my tarps, nothing was said by the LEO regarding them and I passed inspection so I am curious.

No link on the rule. I was told this by several drivers so it could have been one of those truckstop things. idk..I was hoping someone on here would answer yes or no on this one. I hauled many containers set on flatbeds and after chaining the front and back always threw a couple of straps over the top with a twist. Without one the straps would vibrate wicked bad

Until recently, there were a couple states issuing violations for twisted straps, until FMCSA clarified the rule. The rule always prohibited twisted HARDWARE and a couple states were inappropriately applying that to the webbing.

Thanks for the answer. I always wondered what harm a 1/2 twist would be as the strength of the strap would not be diminished in any way.
