It's at a pallet factory. You might do 1-2 runs a day. But still $10 is just an insult. You'd have to room with two others in a mobile home to survive and eat Ramen noodles. Companies like that usually lack in truck maintenance. God forbid getting a ticket in CA. Then you'd have to live under a bridge.

    Habla Espanol!

Back in 2007, the housing market went to hell. The first to feel the pinch are the stick and brick haulers (the guys that haul building supplies). 2008, fuel prices went through the roof and fuel surcharge went over $1/mile. Wow! Some of our guys grossed over $400k! In 2009, fuel prices dropped to almost half what they were. The whole industry staggered. Quite a few companies folded. Truck prices hit rock bottom. It was the absolute best time to buy a truck IF you could pay for it outright. I bought my current truck then. I work for big company, was able to stay busy, so I made it through. Freight rates drop, and I stayed in survival mode almost the whole year, but I was still able to bring home $2000-25000/ week. It was a far cry from the $8500-10000/week paychecks we saw in 08, but it will work.

The bigger companies, if they don't have all of their eggs in one basket ALWAYS have freight.
