Heres a quick update.
I'm suppose to get my CDL Permit during my Nov. 12th training and if I don't pass the test, I have to wait for 7 days to re take the test.. Well I have already gotten my CDL Permit and my double and triples endorsment and have already learned my pre-trip inspection and already been backing and parralel parking in the cones during my yard training. So far so good. My trainer on the yard told me I pick things up fairly quick including shifting. My only problems so far is backing a crazy dolly to the 2nd trailor while its attached to my 1st trailor.Seems easy but after You hook one up that close to the 2nd trailor, its alittle hard to make sure that dolly is centered. I am enjoying my training so far. I can do more yard training as much as i want to between now and November 12,2012. Therefore I am taking advantage of getting under the wheel and learning more on the yard. So far this is my experience at OD training program. I am loving it. -
Its split miles yes. However pay goes up after 6 months then 12 months. Within 24 months I am suppose to be at 64 cents a mile team driving.

Thanks for the informative update. Glad you are doing well in your training.

Hello I know its been awhile but my progress is Great. Man I love driving an Old Dominion Frieghtliner.
I still have my cdl permit and go out next week with a city driver then the next 3 weeks will be with a line haul trainer.
This is the best decision I have made.
That pre-trip blowed my mind at first but after 39 hrs of hands on training, I now can do one and shift and down shift and all my backs and paralell parking.
This is an exciting time in my life. Thanks Old Dominion for giving me this opportunity.
I'm from Morristown Terminal also. -
Glad to hear you are still doing well.

Keep up the good work. Stay focused. Stay safe. That's one of the best driving jobs out there. Morristown has some great people. Keep us posted.

My Update..... I have been training with the PD side of Old Dominion for a few weeks now. (God I love this job)
I start my Line Haul training next week and I'm anxious about getting it completed. I'm scheduled for the 2nd week in January for my
3rd party license and roadtest with our safety officer at Old Dominion. This has been great training so far but very piled full of information.
If anyone wants to learn how to drive, they need to go to Old Dominion and apply in person so they can get paid while in training.
I owe Old Dominion 12 months or 3500.00 for training. I don't plan on ever leaving this company as long as the freight is there. The training program is lengthy but I don't see how anyone can obtain enough hands on knowledge to test and recieve a CDL in 3 weeks. I've been training now 4 weeks and am still learning everytime I get into the truck about something. Old Dominion is very upfront on using mirrors and Safety.
I love this opportunity that Old Dominion has allowed me to take with thier company. I do get paid while in training by the hour until I take and pass my CDL test. Thats the update on my career at Old Dominion so far. God is Good. -
Old Dominion is one of the best outfits you can work for. You'll make lots if money and you'll get lots of paid time off with great health benefits. Once you've reached top pay, you'll be nearing 2 grand a week gross. I wish everyone in this industry wouldn't settle working for less. This is a prime example that it don't take experience it just takes the right outfit
