I'm not a big fan of the Roanoke terminal myself anyways... I'm also not fond of the work that Vandalia does in their shop either, but what I do like about Vandalia is they clean the trucks out (or they did to the one they tried to give me, and the one i accepted) and they also go over it in the shop. They also go through the permit book and update all the paperwork .
I don't blame you one bit. I'm in w Memphis now at the Mexican restaurant. Got here at 7 to pick up a lded trlr. Got here and nowhere to be found. Sent a message and got a response that driver said he left it in the front row close to the fuel island. I made 2 passes through their and told them it wasn't there. Then they wanted me to tell them all the trailers there, so I gave them the 20 that were in that row. I sent 5-6 messages asking to get a ld. I get a dumb response" I'm confused, I thought you were on a ld to savannah GA." I said I was supposed to be but this trlr isn't here, now can I have another ld. I sat here for 2.5 hrs and wasted the rest of my 14hr clock, because they couldn't give me a ld, due to them looking for the trlr I was supposed to pick up. That's got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard, that they couldn't pull me off this ld and give me another.
My largest concern now is getting back to Beckley. I do not have but a change of clothes with me. I only have slip on shoes I left my boots in Beckley. I do not trust USA Truck to do the right thing here. My FM all but promised me that even if I had to bobtail back he would get me there. Now it seems the Roanoke terminal manager will meet me tomorrow to get the permit book. While this is a good thing, it also puts me at the mercy of weekend dispatch and I fear they won't let me go back. Any load going away from Beckley give me tomorrow will be refused if they don't let me go back. If I do this and it becomes a week or longer that truck might get reassigned and I will never see my belongings again. I know what a refusal means, but to be honest at this point I could care less.
At least the mexican restaurant there has GREAT food and the chicks in there are not too hard to look at. I make sure I eat there everytime Im in town. As for the load assignment stuff, there is nothing that surprises me anymore in regards to night/ weekend dispatch. Its a wonder we even move any freight at all between the hours of 1700-0600 M-F OR SAT/SUN.
Speaking of being in Laredo, I got the idea I wanted to try some Mexican food here. Well first I walked in the place and the woman at the door was speaking Spanish. I said English...She was ...She talked to another girl there that could speak English who sat me and took my order. The entire menu was in Spanish, and it didn't have any of the things on there I usually order, or from what I could tell. They didn't even know what a Chimichaunga was. So I ordered a Tostada...It had chicken, sour cream, and guacomole. It was on two deep fried corn tortilla shells. Needless to say, I will have to find a spanish person around to help me order next time...
i delivered a load down to Laredo this morning, got next load assignment within 5 minutes of leaving consignee
I'm still here. I sent in messages on the QC and my fleet manager said it was down...Any of y'all have problems with it?
