werner tricks people into getting on dedicated accounts and i bet prime does the same thing

talked to several people at werner who were asked to help on dollar general temporarily. then they were told they were permanently there. lol.

 

Ok, help me out, why don't you want a dedicated route like Dollar General?

I just talked to a Werner driver the other day who was on Dollar General or Family Dollar and he said it wasn't bad, (although he was on unplanned 3 day vacation for log violations).

 

Prime never has had a lot of dedicated freight. We picked up a large dedicated account up in ME recently that has nothing to do with ice cream.

The Ben and Jerries (Breyers, Friendlys too) were loads that we picked up when we had capacity available. I didn't pull any of them last year, even though I was up that way quite a bit. Mostly we'd get them as a way of paying for part of a long deadhead up to Easton ME, where we have a large account. With all the excess capacity in the NE in the last year, it doesn't surprise me that the ice cream barons found a cheaper way to ship their product than Prime.
