Giving the consideration the banking industry takes for the solo independent trucker?

Absolutely, go get that truck. By a trailer and obtain your authority. Savings, put a heloc on your home for a engine. Buy a bass boat or race car with your cash. Heck, maybe I could finance you.

Paint and chrome is the most important.

Thank You, This whole o/o thing is her idea and after several long talks. I get it this is probably worst time in 20 years to jump in. I don’t know how to do anything the easy way. She says she would like to travel with me but i think I know how that will play out.

    JoeyJunk and Siinman Thank this.

@Ihavetobenuts With your dump truck and all that equipment you own, I think you're ready to start clearing brush and building ranchnroads and stock tanks on other people's ranches, digging holes for septic tanks, and hauling dirt and such for whoever needs it there in your area. Whereabouts are you located, anyway?

So you already own a bunch of equipment. That equipment will make way more money then a semi truck and you can sleep in ur own bed..

That corporate preamble means that you are set financially, and now trying to find a hobby or an antidote to your corporate World aversion, correct?
If the latter, it will definitely contrast with your so forth professional life. That's guaranteed!
But can you, a 55 year old guy from the "Suites", at this point of your life, manage to pee into a jar regularly or go unshowered for a few days in a row?
Too many truck stops became filthy places with horrible food selections. The truck stop showers will repel you and you won't eat good ribeyes for your dinners any more.
Can you stomach to be regularly subordinated to shipping/receiving clerks or fork lift operators often not minding your being treated unfairly?
Forget about money. You're not going to like the money here, regardless of how much they pay per mile.

If you buy your own truck then you’re still going to have to pay for your own medical insurance. Figure out a way to generate revenue with the equipment you have already, pay for your insurance, and be happy at home. Or get a job at a carrier that has excellent benefits. But being an owner operator isn’t going to help you in the insurance area.

    Don't do it.

You have many other options if you have the money to make a living and setup your business to have health care and so on.

Coming in at this time inexperienced will move the risk of failure frim the average 85% to wll over 90%.

If you worked in the corp world, then you know how to do your homework and see why the faiulure rate is high.

That's exactly what I was thinking.
Heck, you have all you need to start a business now.
Now, if you're looking to do a whole "Smokey and the Bandit" thing, I have 1 word for you.......DON'T
