sorry, where did i say you didn't have a "good" job? i think i have a good job right now, and its not union. but i don't pretend that its "just as good" as a top union job, and refuse to be in denial about it. there are better out there, and I know it, and if the opportunity ever arises, I will be the first in line for any of the jobs i listed.
so, once again, lets hear where you work. You said you had everything those guys have, yet you don't want to say when you get called out on it. It might be a good job, but it isn't everything they have, is it?
Have to cross this picket line

I make very good money, My truck is paid for, I go home when I want to (which isn't very often), I would not have more money that I already do, My truck bills are just part of the cost of doing business and are not really a large percentage of my gross.
I would be bored to death as a union line driver...Doing the same thing every night.
After as many years as I have been doing this and making good money and having a great time and having the good fortune to have owned quite a few very cool trucks and trailers, Being a union driver would be like going to prison for me.
You can keep the monotony and the boredom and the lack of freedom and the mediocre pay...I'll stick to owning my own business and reaping the benefits that I do from that, Not to mention the satisfaction of doing it my own way for my entire career. -
Speaking of denial, how about being in denial that any job that isn't union can never ever ever be as good as a glorious union job. Yeah right.
You know, for a group of people that supposedly make more money than God himself, you all sure cried like a bunch of little girls every time you came to pay the impound fees to get your cars out of my tow lot. -

Home time is home time...I usually spend my home time polishing and waxing, maintaining and keeping my truck and trailer the way I like it, Which I also do on the road so it's a wash.
Like I've told you before (and you couldn't grasp it then either)
I do what I do, The way I do it because...I like it!
There are many others like me too.
Not every long haul driver is a prisoner of some huge bottom feeder company that has no choice but to be out here and run for peanuts!
There are many of us running our own trucks, Refusing to haul cheap freight and making a very nice living doing something that we love doing.
I rent motorcycles sometimes when I'm doing a restart and leave the truck and go ride and see the sights wherever I happen to be and it's a lot of fun without the need to "go home" to do it.
It's MY truck!, It's MY bed!, It just happens to be in MY truck and it just happens to be located wherever I decided to park it when I stopped last night.
I would say that, That makes my situation a lot less monotonous than yours because there is considerably more variety involved.
Look out your window...Do you see the same thing out there every day?
I don't.
As does mine...
Got one of those too...
I've been offered local and regional work that paid as well as what I do now with my truck, But I just don't want to do that stuff, I enjoy running all over the country.
Good for you....punkinhed Thanks this. -

"And sorry mate, my scab ### has the benefits and pay without the union overhead. Still, as usual. "
once again, i listed multiple companies that make union pay, and you stated that you make what they make, without paying dues. who do you work for? and why are you so quick to insult while trying to divert the question? and why are you all over the place on quotes from different posts? YOU said .38 cpm, not me, so where were you going with that one? and how much do your benefits cost you? are they free, with lower than average co pays? or do you pay out of every check for them, and have high co pays?
you do realize any truck driver involved in interstate commerce is not subject to overtime law, correct? overtime IS A BENEFIT to truck drivers, any company out there can take it away if its not in a contract.
i am still waiting for this companies name, i find it entertaining that you don't seem to think i could know who they are, i usually keep my ear to the ground on any company worth looking at. I REALLY find it funny that all of a sudden you shut up when I ask who this company is, and you try and divert the subject.
So, i'll spell it out really slow this time, W H O D O Y O U W O R K F O R?
I'm not holding my breath, i'm sure you have another diversion up your sleeve.......fyi, I drive line haul for Land Air Express of New England, based out of Williston Vermont. I run out of the Tonawanda New York terminal. I drive truck ####, and do a meet and turn with an owner operator for Lakeville Motor Express in Fremont Ohio every day. Just breaking the ice, since everyone seems so secretive about who they drive for around here.......Last edited by a moderator: Oct 2, 2010

When spelling somthing out for someone there are many good ways to do it:
"W-h-o d-o y-o-u w-o-r-k f-o-r" This is a double spacing method, used to ensure the reader knows you are spelling, AND seperates the words enough that you can read it without effort.
"W h o d o y o u w o r k f o r" This method is the 3x space no hyphen mode. Its far more clear to a reader, but does not have the punch of clearly spelling somthing out as the double space.
"Who, do, you, work, for." While effective in delivery, by showing the pauses between words (Thus speaking slowly) is not grammatically sound, but it gets the point across.
"W..h...o.... d...o... y...o...u... w.,..o...r...k... ...f.....o....r." is a long method but also effective, harder to read than the first two though.
And finally:
"Who.....do....you....work...for" is easy on the eyes, but lacks the spelling you desire.
This has been a public service message by those who wish to be able to read things on the first try without having to add spaces. ^.^Injun Thanks this. -
