Yup! Try and get a copy of the BOL or what ever paper work that says driver refuses, call them up and tell them your on the way with their tractor, that way you can back yourself up that YOU refused because the BOL states otherwise and YOU brought them the tractor, not the other way around. Let them get another sucker to run illegal....leave that trailer. I'd rat them out too.....

I think I would contact DOT and let them know whats going on and tell them you want to be sure that this load is considered haz mat before refusing it. Try to get the person's name that you speak with. Then let your boss know what you found out. Boss man may change his opinion of wanting you to haul that load. And, just as others have said, if it is indeed haz mat as the BOL says, I would not move that load one inch. If the BOL is incorrect, the shipper should correct it before you move it.

Let us know how it goes. And good job for standing up for yourself!!:biggrin_25514: It is your CDL at steak, not anyone elses.

If you are still under this load, why not call the Pa state police,( from a phone booth) and ask them if the load is legal, I have had success doing this in the past. I think it's too late to take the load back. I think you should take it to a yard if you don't want to deliver, I would not let it at a truckstop. It woud be better to run the load and then quit, then get nailed for dropping that trailer. drive55cat

Man it sounds like you are in a heck of a spot.Without a doubt dont do anything without documenting who and when you talk to .Do not abandon the load.Buit definetly CYA I think I would call the dot and ask them what to do.Then I would go find me a new company to work for asap good luck .

I am sitting here at us steel in madison il.I have been waiting for 3 hours and I am still 6 th inline I should make it out of here around midnite at this rate. This plant isnt in a good neighborhood after dark so I wish they would pick up the pace.

I am then headed to blytheville ar then who knows.I will sleep and shower at mavericks terminal here in madison maybe get up around 5 am so I can beat the traffic out of st louis and hopefully beat the other ten drivers from maverick that are headed to the same place having a fridge microwave and a tv in the truck make these waits not so painful. I dont know what the other drivers do to pass the time they just sit in their trucks.I loaded yesterday in butler with another maverick driver an ran down here with him it is fun to run with other maverick drivers sometimes but not everybody likes to do that and this group dont seem to freindly.Later:iroc:

Well it's been a few days since I have been able to post. We fought with the Boss over the load until wee hrs of the morning. The load was a hazmat load.....batteries,wet, filled with acid......definately hazmat, class 8 corrosive. Boss insisted that I run the load illegal, I'm not endorsed, and he wanted no placards onthe trailer. I told the Boss I quit, and I made a copy of the BOL. They sent another sucker out to pick up truck & load. I turned the company into DOT. Found out that the company had done this before and had been fined before. Looking for new job now.
