Thank you for that. I needed to hear that. Today I was just freaking out a little but I am doing better now. I am not worried about us spending that much time together. That is how we are now. I can't even get my hubby to over to his friend's house without me, he says he just doesn't have a good time if I am not there. We are always together and love it. We have not spent a day apart in 4 years, that is since the day we met. We are one of those rare couples that truly are soul mates and we married for the right reasons. We are so selfish of time with eachother that we do not want any children...who knows that may change in the future sometime, but as of right now we don't plan on kids. I don't want to have kids just to have them, you know. I think too many people have children that really don't need to. I know that we would make excellent parents, but that is not the only reason to have kids. I think we can also have a great impact on our nephews and nieces lives without having children. But I have now gotten way off topic here.....
I do think we will do alright on the road. My mom says that we are the perfect candidates for this lifestyle. Neither of us have ever kept a "normal" schedule, we hate the "corporate lifestyle", and are both free spirits and a bit of rebels. I have tried time and time again to finish college but I am just not happy or focused. I have changed my major a dozen or so times and can't find a career to make me happy. Hitting the road and just living with my hubby beside me sounds perfect. As long as we are together I know we can get through anything.
I also know that Daytona will get through this and make it. He has the spirit deep down and this bump in the road shall pass. He has been such an inspiration to me. Daytona, just know that you have alot of fans out here pulling for you. We want to see you succeed and know that you have it in you.
Take care everyone and nighty night!![]()

That's a cool story! Sounds like your mother's right - two people that are glued together would be perfect in a truck together - as long as you like being in a vehicle all day long. Plus, you don't ALWAYS have to stay in the truck - I used to take a breather from that sleeper and stay at a hotel from time to time.
Kids are a wonderful thing - I have several - but it changes your life. Unless you want to drag a baby with you in a truck, you would basically be giving up the OTR business.
I bid you well and wish you both good luck in your new adventures. -
I have been running my butt off this week I am in pa.right now at a rest area.I have a load headed back to north carolina.I was in north carolina tuesday waiting to get a load when they called me and said we need you to go 600 miles and get it there ten minutes ago.I said I would do my best I got it there ten minutes before my appointment time it was so crazy it was just a load of pallets hardly what you would think of as a critical load.I pull into the yard and there was a liason from maverick there waiting for me and thanking me for making it happen.I thought this is so crazy all these trees in pa. and they send to carolina for pallets. So long story short the dumb box crushing log book mistake making rookie finaly has a good day.It sure made me feel a little bit better about all this will post more later

Go Daytona!!! This job certainly seems to be a mixture of ups and downs LOL. Boy we have run the gambit of emotions since taking this job. We went from heading home to running another week and a half to keep the wheels turning. I could not stand sitting there not making money. Better to be knee deep in snow than sitting still in TN.

Thats what you need Daytona, a good run with a nice compliment at the end to get your spirits up. Keep it up Bro!

Sorry for the brief post but my parents from Tucson AZ are visiting. I took a day off to visit with them but as you know if you ain't driving you ain't making any money. They are concerned that I am doing this and they think I look tired and to be honest I kind of am. You try to squeeze so much into a short period of time that you are home.To make matters worse the ice storms in the south made it tough on Saturday to get home so I didn't get in till Saturday afternoon because I didn't want to take any chances and after seeing two big trucks in the ditch I decided to pull off and wait till the sun melted the roads.I spent three hours in Birmingham parked on I20 waiting for the highway patrol to clean up some wreck that shut the freeway down on Friday night.all in all just miserable driving to end the week.Post more later

Daytona45 you da man!
I wanted to say a big thanks! for all your post on your thread they have been very enlightening giving a real hands on picture of the true story of a new truck driver. If I can remember your posts included you saying your last career was a Computer Programmer and you were burnt out on that office job and wanted to try something different, well what do you think now of that office job? remember staring and the computer for hours upon hours and setting in the same place and then having to deal with all the corporate crap along the way, but you kept on and delt with the situation and started a new project and the job seemed to get better, well it's the samething but a different book.
I can say that because I'm coming out of being a Technical Analyst and I'm also very burnt out on the office job and staring at a computer all day, so I say your doing great just be like Nike and "Just Do It" your earning your stripes like in the military building discipline and you have already displayed character by over coming diversity with all that has happened to you. You are a good example of keeping a good demeanor while under adversity.
In reading these post it sounds like it's very hard to stay grounded and to keep a level head because of so many distraction. I'm really going to need to think about this once I get going to school and then to training. I will need to try to stay focused, from readying these boards sounds kind of tough.
Anyway's just want to give you my .02 worth seems to me you are giving it your All!
Stay tough

I cant escape the snow I was in amarillo tx this am wrecks everywhere I made it to the shipper and my fleet manager wanted to know what took me so long do they know what I do for a living I told him the roads where slick and I was trying to keep it out of the ditch.Trying to fold tarps in a west texas wind and snow get a big zero in my book.
I lost my fridge it made a funny nose then it stopped working fortunaley it is cold enough I dont realy need it.I am caught between wanting to run to make some money but not wanting to test the limits of the road conditions.rdman you are right about being burned out but I was in medicine before all this now I am afraid maverick will burn me out.
I am headed to Ft smith I have a load on my trailer that is going to east alton IL but they want me to go to Ft smith.I am guessing they want me to do a trailer swap.I got just the other side of oklahoma city the sun went down and I called it a day it may take me a little longer to get there but I will get there in one peice.Lots of slick roads everywhere for me nights are the worse it is 17 degrees outside but at least it aint raining.I will leave at 7 am then we will see what happens yall be safe later -
