Hey Daytona, it's the pits having to wait to be cleared like that. I've done it a couple of times, when I was with the Post Office. Glad it wasn't any more serious.
On the possible bright side, maybe the winter weather will have pretty much ended when you get back out there. That's what I keep telling myself each day that I don't get the call to come to orientation
Good luck, play safe!
Have to start somewhere

So after working all day Wednesday and when I say working I mean following this fellow around and watching him work and handing him tools like when I was 10 or 12 .They came to me around 4 in the afternoon and said we need to get these two fellows down to Scottsboro Alabama to get there trucks would you mind taking them I said sure They gave me the keys to a 2006 Chevy blazer and a pilot gas card.
They where pretty anxious to get there trucks so we left around 5 pm One fellow was getting his first truck so you could tell he was real excited the other fellow had driven for covenant for a lot of years so he wasn't all that worked up about it.
We pulled into Scottsboro around 2 am they got there trucks OK and I headed for the hotel. Now their is only one pilot station between here and there and it is in little rock so I had to use my own funds to buy gas they are suppose to reimburse me today.Today is safety classes all day and I test out on Monday and get back to work.So for now I get a real weekend just like I use too.Yall have a great weekend Later

Keep your chin up Daytona. For not having a background in any of this, I think you are doing fine. You want to work, you make yourself available, and you are willing to deal with the adversity. The most important part is that you do not repeat a lot of mistakes. That is key, and people will notice that.
I was so fed up at work the other day I almost walked out in the middle of the day. I'm not ready to jump just yet so I stuck it out. I will be by years end.
Probably not on flatbeds though. You guys are crazy and I'm too #### clumsy!

! It's just a case of workin' smart instead of workin' hard. But man, don't up and just quit your job to go truckin'. Plan it out before hand, cuz it's a big transition.

Man, glad to here you got cleared. Thought maybe you'd still be hangin' around when I got there, in the next week or 3
Be safe. -
Congratulations on getting cleared Daytona! Keep your chin up and the runs will come... It just may take a week or so to get back up to speed. Just hang in there... the slow season is almost over as is the winter.

We all drove for Marten Transport out of Mondovi, WI and four of us were from Texas. We had all just delivered at the nearby Safeway warehouse.
And, it was a nice February morning with about 5 inches of ice all over everything.
Nothing like deadheading on ice. . .
Yep, those hillbillies just can't handle them mountains like them westerners can (who refused to run east & were all running over on I-5 to avoid the ice & snow).
And, I agree that where people are from doesn't matter. A good driver is measured by the way he drives, he is not measured by where he's from, who he drives for, how much he is paid, or anything other than his ability to drive safely. -
So I am home for the weekend.I was across Missouri this week the water was right next to the interstate.I am sitting in the yard empty after doing a swap in ft smith Friday that means I start the week with zero miles and nowhere to go on Monday.
The trailer i got from this fellow is a P.O.S. it was missing a mud-flap. Two of the marker lights where burned out the hub seals are leaking and the latches on the tarp box door are falling off and their is so much rust around the lug-nuts I don't know if they are loose or just beat up. That is the sign for loose lug-nuts isn't it or am I just mistaken I don't want to be one of those guys who wheel goes left when they go right. I am guessing this driver never heard of a pretrip inspection it just amazes me what some guys will drive around so I put it in the shop to get all that stuff fixed.
I had an issue with my fleet-manager I was suppose to be off Friday I put in the macros did everything by the book well Thursday rolls around and they are sending me in the wrong direction from the house so I call them to see what is what and my fleet managers boss picks up the phone he then proceeds to tell me that I never put in the request I say yes I did then he tells me that he is sorry but they had a communication error I need to have closure and just go get that load I am feeling like they are playing me like a fool and am real unhappy but what are you going to do.I have to eat and pay the bills but this crap will not be tolerated in the future I will vote with my feet Don't treat me like I am stupid by bouncing me from man anger to manager they get what I call plausible denial.
I know the weather is warming up I saw my first three hundred pound truck driver driving shirtless looked like jabba the hut with a steering wheel. With the nights getting warmer I wont have to idle my truck at night so maybe I can meet their goal of 6.8 mpg and the will leave me alone about my mpg we already drive one of the slowest trucks on the road.Friday I spent 150 miles watching an oversize and a swift truck do a turtle race passing each other because neither driver want to relent and how sad is my life because my truck even if I wanted to go faster then the 62 mph I was going wouldn't have the cahones to stay in front of them without getting involved in their ugly turtle race.
In closing I was thinking about this while I was reading the back of the swift truck when I started at maverick they paid a fuel bonus if you met 7 mpg.Now fuel has doubled and they still pay the same bonus to the drivers even though you are now saving them twice as much money as you where before. Now surely they are passing the price increase of fuel along to the customers so isn't that like a win win situation for them.just a little food for thought before I go ya ll have a great week later -
We are also stuck at home... We took this week off and were scheduled to leave today (Saturday) at noon. I even called my FM on Wed and Fri to make sure they knew we wanted out today..... Well.... you guessed it... no runs... As of 6:00 pm the only run out of FL leaves Monday morning bound for Texas UGGGGG! To make matters worse, we bobtailed home. The pickup is about 30 miles from home... the nearest trailer has to be at least 2 hours away
. I also received a Jury Summons for Monday... If I'm in the state... I'll have to appear and get thrown off the jury. The last time I was summoned for a jury was for a mass murder trial.... I let the defense attorney over hear me on break saying we should save the expense of a trial and make good use of the flag poles outside the courthouse.... I got released
. While this is all comical... not getting on the road today will make it so we don't get a paycheck this week and the new load doesn't deliver until Wednesday so we will only have a little over 1,000 miles by Wednesday.... That sucks!
