After finishing some obligations in June, I'll be starting a CDL class at a local county college then looking to hire on around the first of September. I passed the DOT physical and written tests, and got my permit a couple of weeks ago. Looking towards Maverick, TMC, or another flatbed carrier. Thanks for all the input from you, Daytona, and all the others willing to share their experiences, both good and bad.

Rumbarrel, it would be great to read about your experiences. I have learned so much from reading the posts from the newbies telling of their experiences. So, go for it.
I begin school on May 1 in Nashville. Graduation day is June 23. I plan on applying to companies almost as soon as I begin school. I am interested in dry van or reefer. Companies I am interested in are CFI, KLLM, Trans Am, Prime, Transport America, Schneider. This forum has provided me with a lot of wonderful information. Of course, some has to be taken with a grain of salt. One thing I have learned is that attitude and the desire to work hard seem to be the key to success. And, don't be in a rush. Luck plays a part, too. -
I DID IT! i passed the test with flying colors and got my CDL! phew! now i can concentrate on looking for a good co. for those of you who don't know, my training was paid for by michigans "no worker left behind program" so i am not beholdin' to anyone.
i downloaded a good e-book on trucking companies and types of jobs so i am going to use that knowledge along with things i've learned here to make a decision. this weekend i am going to chill. -
Congratulations! Good job.

Will I decided to go and start my training with Drivers Solutions on the 14 of this month. Looks as if I will be with USA Trucking for a year, That is if I don't fail.
Had ever thing good to go for last month then had to wait till this month to start. The guy at Drivers Solutions said had to re-approve my work history again. I put off the school two weeks. Don't understand that.
I will try to post my experiences with Driver Solutions also. -
