Yes he was a swifty. That luvs shower is something else someone down the hall flushed the commode and the water went flesh peeling hot on me I moved out of the way as fast as I could.I always unplug the fan when I walk in first thing it is always on.I stopped at the service area on the Ohio state turnpike I80 they have free showers in their service areas?I didn't use them cause I wasn't sure if they was really free but all the doors where unlocked.gp12 It was a good week I found parking spots when I needed them and I did more driving then I did loading these are just things that happen on the road.I don't know why I get so many flat tires I do my pretip religiously in my defense all but one have been on trailer tires.I drop this load in pine bluff on Monday so I am only an hour from the house so I get a little extra home time.:iroc:

yer missing the point of those showers, guys. WIth those, you don't need soap or shampoo - that high pressure takes the dirt off (along with the first layer of skin) and takes the dirt off your scalp, too. Along with the hair. Now you know why so many drivers are bald!

Well guys it all ended today for me it maverick this is how it happened.I have been trying to get reimbursed for sometime for the fuel I bought for the company car when I took those guys to Alabama to get their trucks. So this morning I dropped my load in pine bluff and I sent mike a message that my reimbursement hadn't shown up in my paycheck so he sent me a message to come back to the yard and they would square it away.

So I get back to the yard and mike and this other fellow take me into the office. I new something was amiss when ever they tag team you then you know you are in trouble. He tells me that because of my fall back in march I was given three safety points and I now have seven safety points and they are letting me go.I said wait a second you are firing me because of something that happened two months ago and that I missed maybe three days of driving and I was really starting to hit my stride. They said we are not firing you we are letting you go and I am thinking #### sure feels like I am getting fired. But it doesn't matter what I say at this point because it is obvious that they have made up there mind.

So I go out to the yard clean out my truck. Which takes me a long time turn in my keys and my paperwork and that is that. I asked them to at least leave my DAC alone but I doubt they will. I guess I will never really know why they chose to let me go I guess they figured I was too much of a risk or I wouldn't run illegal enough for them who knows. It is done now and I am another statistic of a driver who didn't make it a year.

Everything I have posted here about maverick has been 100 the gods honest truth as seen thru my eyes. So read this for what it is worth before you consider getting into this business as for me I have no idea what I am going to do now. So here ends my posts 9 months and four days and 68 thousand miles later. Good luck to you ya ll be safe and don't let them or me get you down.I will be fine I have survived worse then this in my life Later.

Daytona - Wow. So sorry to hear this happening after all you have put into it. Thanks for all you have shared this past year. You've been a source of much education for many (including me). Please continue with follow-up if you can. With the experience you've gained, you should be an asset to another company out there, maybe with a better "fit". Best of luck with whatever you tackle next.

    Hi Daytona,

I am so disappointed in Maverick - NOT in you. I hope you managed to get the $ back they owed you.

I really think you should have been provided a reason IN WRITING for their actions. You not only deserve it - you have a legal right to obtain it.

But I know you've already realized that companies that do things like this are not really worth the trouble. Hard as it is to see it now, this will be an opportunity for you and a very positive one. These things happen for reasons we don't always readily see.

Your posts (and others like them) were one the main reasons I had second thoughts about Maverick. I did not like what I was reading about them. Your observations & how you were treated all make sense to me now.

Good luck & don't start feeling negative. This was Mavericks shortcoming - they didn't even sit down & discuss this with you honestly. That's the wrong kind of people to associate with. That's why they have to hire so many - they even let the good guys go.

Keep us up to date if you can. You have some valuable experience now & I know there are lots of opportunities out there.

Thanks for letting us know the truth. I think you'll do even better now! :yes2557:

I am sorry to hear you were fired or let go. I hope you get another job, probably better one at that. One question though. What the hell is the difference between "being let go" and "fired"? They sound exactly the same to me. So I agree with your obvious question there. It must be one of those political statements to somehow make you feel better. I think they were just mad for you wanting your money for gas back. I hate companies that would rather say "I'll show you, by god" than to pay up.:biggrin_25516:

I was just "Let Go" from my factory job on Thursday. I have been reading your thread and have offered opinions and questions throughout. You have been an inspiration to me and I am sure others out here who have been thinking of making this jump.

I have decided that now is not my time. Too many financial responsibilities at this point to take the cut required at the beginning.

You have good training, 68,000 miles, and I believe a good beginner's record and there are companies looking for drivers out there. If you still have the desire to do this, then by all means, get your name out there! Maybe do some box driving. Not as many distractions as in flatbeds. Then when you get more miles under your belt, move to flats again if that is where your heart is.

Godspeed to you brother, and please do not stop posting. Allot of people have made this journey with, although by proxy, and feel for you. PLEASE, keep us apprised of your situation.

Daytona, please keep your thread running, even if you have parted company with Maverick. You have built up quite a following of readers out here on this story line and I have looked forward to your posts since the very beginning.

I was living in Grapevine, AR when you started this thread and nearly started driving for Schneider in W Memphis last November but decided to hold back and live some of this vicariously. Now, after hearing your story, I am glad I did not take up trucking.

You are a good story teller, telling the truth makes it easy. Keep it up and best wishes that you will be picked up by another operator quickly. You can probably get on with Schneider in no time and there is always that string of operators on I-40 near McCain Blvd and the hospital area.
