He had gotten his fuel mileage up, but like I said in a earlier post there is only so much a co can do when a driver is costing them money. The companies are here to make a profit and as the other poster twisted my words around and made it sound like I said that mav wanted newer drivers over exp hands was not right. Daytona had made the comment that he thought the real reason he was let go was so they could get a driver in his place to run illegal. That is when I said they or any other company make more money when they pay a driver less to haul the same load.
Bottom line was he pointed out on safety points from log violations, hitting stuff and other issues. They did work with him they put him thru classes to drop points, but you can only drop so many points a year. I just went in to take a class to drop 2 points off me as I was close to having my neck in the noose. I like daytona and think he is a heck of a guy, but to come on here and say that he THINKS they let him go over they wanted a driver to run illegal was just wrong. He knows that and I know that. I would say that it is just missed placed anger and makes it easier to swallow the fact that he was let go.
As I said in another post there is a guy in my hometown that was let go as well. He pointed out. You go over their point system and don't take a class or rack up so many points that you can't drop anymore than you are gone. All of us are under the same rules. They have never forced me to run illegal and just moved my appt time back a day just last week because I could not make it on time. I got no beef from them because I told them I could not make it. The other poster talked about mav was a bad co, because they did not reimburse his money. Here is the deal if he is owed he should get his money. I would fight for it. They already let him go what does he have to lose anyway?
The guy that scratched mav off his list on account of daytona's ordeal. That is fine. Go somewhere else, you might want to try CRE. They will make any driver appreciate a good co.Compare on this board or anywhere else the complaints on mav. So there is a couple disgruntled drivers out of 1500 trucks. Check out other co's and see how many complaints they have against them. My sole point of this was don't shift the reason you think you was let go so other newbies come along and say I want no part of that co. You may have just sealed their doom in trucking if they choose some ate up outfit. If you got a legit complaint fine post it, but stand up to the plate and say I made a lot of mistakes, me getting let go might have had something to do with that.....
I drive for them. Have dealt with his FM and I am aware of their safety program. I don't buy that he was let go on account of they wanted someone to run off the books.
Have to start somewhere

Well I wasn't going to respond but Vicki saw this and now she is mad as all get out.For starters. I never got 4 mpg I have no idea where you got that number from.I did how ever tell them there truck was running poorly and they tuned it up and was getting significantly better mileage as a matter of fact the last thing Fm said to me was my fuel mileage was up right before he canned me.
Second go back and read my old post and you will see that I got an award from maverick for being in there top ten for lowest out of right miles.I did screw up the order of a multi drop it went to Philly first then to Exton.A difference of 30 miles or so but in my defense it was my first multi drop and the whole counting the shipper as stop 1 thing did confuse me.Hardly the end of the world.Something that I was told by my fleet-manger not worry about and would be used a learning experience.
As for running illegal check my old post you will see that I stated a while back that I wouldn't work past my fourteen hours and I tried to live true to that.Ruining illegal is a fact of life in this business guys cheat there log book when they dint have to it is a common fact. I know you know it and Maverick knows it all you have to do is the math and you know that you cant get from here to there in the time you are given.Anyone who has ever sat behind the wheel knows the first thing to do is work that logbook so you can get the most miles out of a day you can.To say anything different is untrue.
Finally and lastly I slipped and fell while working for them not goofing off not malingering and dragging it out and I got back to work as fast as I could and this was how they rewarded me. As anyone can tell you climbing on those loads is dangerous business it is unrealistic to think people wont fall and get hurt and the only reason they assign such a high value of points to falls is to do exactly what they did. I never got a letter from safety telling me they gave me points for the fall.Had they sent me such a letter I would have known I was in trouble but to arbitrarily take me in an office and tell me so makes their whole story seem fishy to me.
It took the me almost four weeks of phone calls and to pay me my final paycheck to battle with them to get them to do what they know is right and pay me back my fuel reimbursement is a pipe dream it ain't gonna happen and it will be a wasted effort on my part.
No tarps you have said somethings here that leads me to believe my old FM is giving you wrong information.(some of your quote are straight out of his mouth)Please stop attacking me and my good name it is all I have left and it is not deserved or appreciated to paint me as an angry incompetent driver is a great falsehood. All I did was paint a true picture thru MY EYES of MY experience with maverick if you and maverick cant live with that so be it.Gp12 thank you for your kind words it is greatly appreciated at a time when people are attacking my character -
Daytona I am not attacking you. You are the one that told me that you was getting about 4 mpg awhile back. You said mav wanted you to drive 50 mph on account of it. I am the one that told you to get it into the shop because you might have a problem with it. The only part of this that I questioned and you know that it is wrong is that your final retreat where you took a few weeks off in the desert you came back and said you felt that they wanted someone in the seat that would run more illegally. You and I both know that is wrong. As soon as you posted that people started saying well thanks for telling us that mav wanted you to run illegal. That is what I was calling out.
In all the times I have spoken with you I never tried to discouarge you because I did not want you to worry and make mistakes worrying about what you had done in the past. What did I tell you? To learn from things and move on. How many times did you call me and ask me do you think they will fire me for this? You was worried about your job well before they let you go. I tried to help you in every way I could. The thing I am getting to is they did not let you go for the reason you thought they did. You know it and I know it. The part about the money was wrong on their part. They should have reimbursed you on that pay period.
All I am saying is by your assumptions of why you was let go you have led people to believe that mav was forcing you to run illegal and they wanted another driver in your place that would.Last edited: Jun 8, 2008

Let us agree to disagree. Are you therefore willing to say here and now that you run what you log and are 100 percent legal. Because that is what you are telling anyone who is reading these post.
Just because a company doesn't ask you to do something doesn't mean they don't expect it. Of course maverick would never say run this load. But as we both know maverick does assign loads with legally undeliverable times.Yes you can call them on it and tell them you cant do it legally and I always did.
Again I wonder how many drivers just go ahead and deliver those loads.Do I believe that my uncooperative on this matter cost me my job I do not know for sure but I am equally sure it didn't help my case any.
To paint maverick as a ethical legal company is a gross understatement of the truth not been my experience and unfair to people entering the industry. As for attacks on my character and my competence Yes you have. All anyone has to do is go and read our old posts let them make up there own minds. You have implied and repeated things that where not true. The truth will set you free.Good day sir -
Mav is a good co maybe you ought to go work for a few more companies and then post how good mav was??? You are the one that got everyone believing you was let go on account of your integrity. Everything I posted happened.
I have had them move appts back because there was no way I could get close to that window. Have I been put OOS? Yes. Did I get points? Yes. Who was driving the truck? Me. Who can I blame? Me.... If you want people on here to believe that you had no fault in this go right ahead. Blame it on the co. Hope you can sleep tonight. -
Never said I wasn't without blame in all this.I was never put OOS one of the few mistakes I never made. I always posted the truth. I am not sure why that bothers you so much.As for Maverick being a great company let me use this analogy if being a swindler makes you better then being a murder then it is true maverick is a good company but doesn't it still make you a criminal.True I don't have your vast experiences in working for other companies I can only judge what I have been through but I have spent 51 years walking around this planet so I do have some life experiences and I know when someone is pissing on my shoes and calling it rain.As for my sleeping habits I sleep just fine I don't have anyone second guessing me anymore and I have no need to worry about safety points. You be safe out there and don't slip and fall watch out for the safety Nazi's.
BigDaddyJollyRob Thanks this. -
Best of luck in life.I've enjoyed your post.

i think daytona was genuine in his post/as he stated it was in his eyes as he seen it.i hope he considers driving agian because it sounded like he was a extremely good driver with good qualities.i believe if he worked for any other company that didnt require him to tarp ,he would truely love what he did.keep your head up daytona, there are other companies out there that would fit you like a glove.loved your post.if driving is in your blood go for it.p.s i cant think of anything that you can do 100 % legal with out violating some policy and procedure.with that said being ethical is the right thing to do.to h#ll with maverick, your post made me scratch them off my list of potential employers.take care man -
You guys are killin me
