There's an airport in California along 99...around Madera, maybe south of there...
They've got a B17 parked just a stone's throw from the freeway. Drove by there at 3am in the Tule fog, saw it in silhouette (the yard light perched behind it was piercing through the fog). Gave me goose bumps, that one. Ghost ship and all.

That "I'm still moving!" sensation is about a million times worse if you spend any amount of time riding backwards in a station wagon trunk seat or in the bed of a pickup. You stop, even at a light, and the whole world looks like it's still moving.

Seconding the "never nap in the driver's seat" thing. I'm paranoid about telling my body it's okay to check out whilst the butt is in the commander's chair.

I'm no old timer but I've experienced all of those with the exception of the plane. Although I did think a crop duster was gonna take my condo of my sleeper off one time when I was on some backroads to make a delivery. come to find out he worked for the farmer that I was delivering too and he landed to come say hi and to see if I needed some toilet paper. :biggrin_25523: He thought it was rather funny. Me not so much. :biggrin_25510:

Definately the first two! Even in my POV! What a weird sensation! I just KNOW I've stopped! WTH! I have to look at some stationary object to make sure I really stopped moving!:biggrin_25521:

Yeah pretty scary and freaky I guess. Sometimes I wake up in the bunk and have to think real hard about where I am !! Other times it feels like the truck is moving so I jump up like a bomb went off only to find out it's time to get back to sleep and nothing happened. You are sitting at a dock and the truck next to you starts to pull out...you slam your brakes ! hahaa. Or sitting at a light and the vehicle next to you inches forward ! Your heart jumps out of your chest as you nail the brakes ! Yes it happens now and then.

Think that's bad? Try being in the middle of the lake in a canoe when he makes his 1st pass:biggrin_2556::biggrin_2556: It was a moment straight from the begining of the movie "Always". Thank God I had a trolling motor rigged. And he did do 2 warning passes.:biggrin_25514:

One of the best times of my life. Funny how we can treasure scary moments later on, isn't it?

The sense of vertigo when the other trk moves and you think its you- oh yea. Scares the crap out of me. Its so instinctive and theres nothing you can do about it.
Starting to see things out of the corners of my eyes.... nap time. Don't know why, but in foggy conditions and tired, keep seeing bridges that aren't there.
