Actually I was an 18X training to be an 18E when an injury caused me to wash out.. I was grateful to return to 11B..Where I was wounded but not disabled..stop loss isn't always a bad thing.

Well.. the way I understood it was he pulled away from the dock only enough so they could not finish unloading it... So, another truck would not be able to slip into the dock cause his truck was still there just not up to the dock.. so, could he be arrested for not delivering.. he was there with the goods..

    I hope it is true..

Expect glad hand locks next time you deliver there. Good thing they didn't come off break and have a lift up in there when you pulled out. Could have killed someone, but they probably deserved it so it's ok.

Seriously, bad attitude from the dock hands gets under my skin too. What you did may seem heroic but it was really pretty dangerous and stupid.

So glad I don't have to deal with shippers and receivers any more. Congratulations , but I wouldn't go back too soon.

The customer is always right within reason. Call me what you want. I'll leave with my bills and off to the next load.
Someone having a bad day, treating you like a dog or even going to lunch I wouldn't take personally. There's all kinds of people out there. Your objective is to get the freight off and leave with minimal BS in between.
I don't know I would have called over that situation because it was minor but you always let your dispatcher or CSR handle the dirty work of negotiations if you are a company driver.

I remember one load in particular I was put on hold for a company BBQ. Okay I can wait an extra hour but do you have to eat that good food right beside me and not offer me any? The nerve of some people, lol.

Or the time I wanted to check in but the lady wouldn't open the window. I calmly watched her take everything off the desk and out of the drawers, then cleaned everything and put everything back nice and tidy. Then 15 minutes later she opened the window, can I help you?

My point is you'll deal with all kinds of strange situations.

That customer could of countered and told you to get off the property. Then where would you be? Stuck with half a load and no bills. Then you end up going back the next day like a puppy dog after sitting all night. Just sayin! Fluffing feathers don't always get things done. One can aggravate a situation or they can try to calm it.

I doubt there is a hot load of baking powder unless someone is making biscuits. :)

that one has sure happened more than a few times. And one particular place in Atlanta if you've got the first appt of the day, you can be standing there early and by the time she's done sanitizing the paper clips she marks you late even though it was her that didn't open the window until 750 on a 0700 appt and you were there 0645 at the window. Every time.

Now if I could just find some of those biscuits hehehe it's #### early

Trust me there has been times I would love to tell recievers where to go but you know what after the years you learn to take in on ear and out the other just act like its the millitary only speak unless spoken to and answer yes sir no sir its not worth the stress some of these people just come into work to tick off drivers and the fact is buy pulling out of the dock you are just making it a bigger scene and your company may lose a customer and the bottom line for companys is money not arguments so suck it up blow it off and just deal with it its part of the industry

I had a case back a couple of year ago, When I got to the shipper they asked me "how many pallets I could haul", I asked them what the weight for each pallet was? they said 2000 LBS per pallet, so I said I could legalize 22 pallets if loaded properly, They load me, I leave go get a scale, and I'm Way over gross, Did some calculations and determine their pallets where 2140 LBs each, I head back and told them they would need to remove a pallet, and they said "No you said you could take 22 we are not taking one off, I was a O/O then, I told them they lied to me on the weight of the pallets, so they where at fault, And if they wont take one off, so I could get legal? then they will take every pallet off, they went and got a supervisor and he said, why would you say you can haul 22 pallets if you cant?, I said I can as long as the weight per pallet is 2000, not 2140, He said I don't understand how only a 140 LBS can make that much difference?, I said it's not just a 140 LBS, It's a 140 LBS times 22, that's 3080 LBs, I can legalize 44000 LBS, not 47080 LBS, So ether remove one pallet, or 22 pallets, your choice, they removed the pallet
