This O/O leases his truck from IEL/Swift and makes 25-50% more than I did as a company driver.

as far as #3, I was told to get a 12v adapter for my CPAP machine while training. You can get one for most late model machines, just a replacement corn that plugs into a 12v source like a cig lighter jack. I know on my machine you can't use the humidifier with the 12v cord, but it's not like you can use the humidifier while the truck is in motion. You don't want to get water down in the machine and ruin it. The recuiter said that when you get solo'd out then the shop will install a inverter into your truck for the CPAP machine. Good luck with getting with a good mentor this time. I was lucky enough to have a great mentor 12 years ago and we are still friends to this day. Hope to get that lucky again this time around - after being out of truck for 8 years I have to start back at square one. -
My mentor called this evening and we had a good conversation. He will be in Fontana to get me Monday or Tuesday. Company driver, allows food (within reason) and is cool with the CPAP inverter. He's from IL and will be going home for xmas so I get a hotel stay out of the deal.

When a mentor goes home during training and the student hits the motel who pays? And for how many days? -
With the holidays approaching, and the ports being closed for eight days, freight has slowed. Swift is in no real rush to start paying you until they are sure you will make them money.

But this guy is in Fontana, Ca. A lot of freight there was stopped because of the strike.

Your heading is misleading. You haven't had trouble GETTING a mentor. You have had trouble ACCEPTING a mentor. Based off of my experience I will offer this. It is easier to get out of a truck with an existing mentor to another than it is to continue to screen your first mentor. I hope that you understand what I am saying and wish you success.
