For some reason I have been having way too much trouble with my heart rate. I got to deck #2 and strapping just the first tire took me around 8-10 minutes since the strap came undone. Regardless tho, just that made me extremely fatigued. Felt like I was finna pass out and needed to sit down.

Big guy in charge felt like this may not be for me. Disappointing because I was finally getting it once I got a chance to load on my own. For some reason it’s easier to remember when I’m by myself than when I’m working with a partner and us taking turns doing stuff.

overall the training was good I feel like I learned a lot and made alot of progress for what has probably been 7 days outside total(first week was classroom stuff and one day the pad got shut down due to lightning)

My biggest issue(besides the heart thing) was remembering every single thing in the order they wanted.

Don’t get me wrong, the training is good, but for ppl like me it would have been a lot more efficient if they gave us an exact order of how they want it unloaded and loaded. Instead of everything trying to remember it and constantly messing up.
I know when you’re own you can technically do things your way, but since they insist on us doing it their way in training I believe a study sheet should have been given. It probably would take them 20 minutes top to create one. But it would help a lot since they aren’t giving us that much time to remember everything, that way we can spend more time practicing it the right way.

Are you way out of shape or over weight? Not trying to be a jerk but just inquiring. Ones body eventually adapts to hauling cars. When I started we used chains and during training you would bump your knuckles over and over and over. The very first week I was on my own my knuckles decided they had enough. I woke up one morning with the worst looking infected knuckle possible. Fortunately my wife was an ER Nurse at the time. I sent her a picture and the Dr she showed said for me to get to an ER immediately. The town where my hotel was didn’t have a cab. I didn’t want to call an Ambulance so I called the police and explained that I couldn’t drive my loaded carhauler to the hospital. A very nice police officer showed up in a few minutes and took me to the hospital. He said when I am done call his cell phone and he picked me up. Sometimes you have to adapt. If you can make it long enough your body will adapt.

IMG_5176.png If you are out of shape and stay with Carhauling you won’t be out of shape for long. I still have to walk back to the hotel the 15 minutes or so from the restaurant.

    Around 6 foot. 225

Hopefully it’s just that. Needing to adjust. If it is something greater than that’s a bigger issue.

You should be fine eventually. Don’t over think it and let mastering this job come to you on your terms. Everyone picks this job up at a different pace.

Well as of now that’s it for this company. I was sent home and encouraged to get my body together.
Disappointing because I truly feel that I was understanding it once I got to load the truck on my own. Yes I was going slow but i was remembering the steps without using my notepad. Little small mistakes I made I was able to figure out and fix on my own in 5-10 seconds.

hopefully I can get a second chance

Ultimately they gave me a chance, said they wouldn’t give up on me if I wanted to stay.
However the main instructor telling me that he doesn’t think it’s a good fit for me is ultimately a big reason why I also chose to go home.

even if I stayed idk what would of happened being trained by someone that I felt like has wrote me off.

I would say next week we would’ve been with an actual driver trainer and that maybe would’ve been a better experience.

still hard work but not loading and unloading for 8 hours straight with little break.
Apparently I was having early signs of heat stroke.

I think I’m going to get a physical trucking job for a while. Maybe 3 months and get used to this heat and hard work.
    Then give it another try.

I absolutely hated this job at first, then after lots of struggles it started working for me. 38 years trucking for me and nearly 14 years hauling cars I won’t haul anything else for the rest of my career. Take a break and find another job that may be a better fit and try Carhauling again when you are ready. I was 45 years old when I started hauling cars and definitely past my physical Prime to start this deal. I am 59 years old today and you will find very few carhaulers that can keep up with me and they definitely won’t out load me. Not bragging because I have bad feet, a bad back and a hip out of place currently, but I have a #### good routine. There is hope to succeeding in this gig and sometimes it just takes a lot of time. It definitely didn’t come at first for me and you may be the same. Either way you tried something and everything in life doesn’t work the way you plan, but you gave it a try.
