Cop cars have radar screens radar guns radios two ways and a souped up car lets ban them and they use them while driving. Raise your hands how many of us have seen cops driving with a cell glued to their ear or texting....MEEEE!

It amazes me how we love to drag out our little soap boxes and point fingers at others .... Yes I have texted while driving ... So? I have seen people .... Play the guitar .... Read a newspaper .... Apply makeup ... I followed a car one time for 10 miles somebody in it was death and they were having a full blown sign language discussion ... Have sex ... So many things to distract drivers in cars and semi trucks ... Changing radio stations/cd's can lead to split second accidents

Unless you drive down the road hands at 9 and 3 for hours at a time with no distractions don't point fingers at people for what they do ... Because what may be distracting to you may be second nature to me

And I am not saying it is right, and we as professionals attempt to do everything in our power to be safe and we all do our part to avoid those who are not .... But come on ..... ***glass houses***

p.s. I have operated haz-mat tankers in the military and civilian life ... How do you think people used to feel when I tossed that cigarrette out the window at 70 mph on the autobhan in Germany

placards don't come off the trailer. why take em off just to put em back on. if your hauling the same stuff over and over.

besides. he's not completely empty. there's always some quantity left in the tank. even if it's just fumes.

They probably wouldn't text if they were allowed to hold the phone to the ear. Nearly every trucker that passes me is doing something with the phone. Holding the phone to the ear is much safer than texting with the phone on the lap. The only way to eliminate the problem is to take cell phones out of the trucks all together because the bluetooth doesn't always work. Truckers are still going to use the phone either way. Maybe the new guy with the porky pine hair cut and the dot certified vest will abide by the rules until he develops an attitude. Truckers that pull tankers normally have attitudes anyhow because they work weekends and drag hoses for peanuts.

Well now Ive seen some of the reasons why some tanker companies put a camera aiming at the driver. Drivers making EXCUSES in why texting and driving is OK. That is so sad. And we wonder WHY the govt keeps on putting more and more regs on us that are not needed. Be a proffessional driver and pay attention to the road like u are paid to do. When u are driving, its NOT ur personal time...Its WORK time. Doesnt matter how good u say u are. One life taken is one life too many. I bet my savings that ur attitude would change if ur spouse gets killed by someone texting and driving. Be safe out there drivers.

lets just remember, driving is a privelege, not a constitutional right. texting while driving is illegal.

Duh. My point about the placards was that while he may or may not have been empty, he hadn't been washed clean and at least had residual. Residual ignites just as easily as a full load. Maybe even easier.
