Buffalo Bill, do you live close to some large truckstops? Maybe go chat with some owner operators to give you just enough time to qualify somewhere else. Put your name up places and start a thread here. I did some research and looks like there are some but the ones I looked up were 10 years. How is your driving record? Thats a killer too.

What are the felonies if u don't mind? And how long did it take them to tell you no?

You can have a felony conviction from last week and still get your STA (security threat assessment) approved for hazmat. It entirely depends on WHAT the felony conviction is for. Google hazmat disqualifying offenses to easily find out.
As far as employment goes, if you have some hardcore felony convictions, it's going to be that much more challenging to get your foot in the door with no experience, depending on the charge, but not impossible.
If somebody does take a chance on you, you MUST build a good record with that company. Then, your experience and good safety record will start to outweigh your past criminal charges.
From my research on this site, Chinatown is one of the experts in this area and knows exactly what he's talking about. Listen to him. Through reading his posts two years ago, he helped me tremendously in finding a starter company with some blemishes on my record. I was ready to give up with all the denials from the well known starter companies I applied to at the time. But I persisted and did what I had to do.
I worked my way up from that bottom feeder company, after just six months of incident free driving, to a major otr company, that otherwise wouldn't have hired me fresh out of school with no experience.
Good luck, worry about the hazmat later and keep ALL your records clean.Buffalo Bill Thanks this. -
If it's only for theft why would they disqualify you? It's not a disqualifying offense?
