A few new CDL grads posted they found local tanker work in Memphis/West Memphis. One of them was hauling fuel to truckstops, but don't remember the name now. Lots of dry bulk tanker work in Memphis also.
Delek US delivers fuel to Mapco stations; they're running ads; says "experience preferred" doesn't say "required."
Here's one for night shift:[TABLE="width: 100%"]

Quik Fuel is the name of the company.
Many of these good jobs, you have to go in person and walk right in. May get lots of rejections, but you never know. If a company really need a driver & you're standing there with an application and the right endorsements................?

You want the hazmat. Go to school when your a week or two from being done get finger printed. Get your cdl right away so you hit the magic year point quicker. Go back to DMV and get hazmat on your cdl.
You get a year on a cdl with hazmat you can get a local gig pretty easy in most areas. -
So, you're comfortable hauling 190 proof anhydrous ethyl alcohol(being a brand new driver). That takes guts. I commend you. Yeah,I would get the cdl and drive about six months or so then step up to the more dangerous stuff.Of course its your call.

I've only been driving a little over a year but I've learned a lot in that short period on time...and from my personal experience, Hazmat is NOT worth the money and risk involved. I hauled, Gas/Fuel to Gas stations for a short period of time and lemme tell ya...you are under a magnify glass from the company, and the law/DOT. If you have a spill, get ready to work for a few years just to pay off fines. You'll start out working nights and weekends 99% of the time and it's LONG...and I mean LONG hours. (Just like the rest of the industry, just feels longer lol)
If I were you, I'd stick to NON-Hazmat. But, do as you will...good luck either way! -
Do you mean Memphis, AR? (Arkansas?) You can check the requirements for AR and Tennessee because Memphis splits the state line you can probably test in both or choose one if it has the eligibility you're looking for. As for jobs - There should be jobs around the area due to factories there. Def get HAZMAT because that is where the money is!
