Need to know generally speaking , how long the hazmat app process takes
-
Depends on the state.I got mine in a week. You call dept of transportation fill out an application over phone they give you a refference number which you give to the person who finger prints you but they'll have it on record on the computer.Anyway here's the drill.Call dept of transportation. Then go to DMV take test.if you pass they'll send you somewhere to get fingerprinted cost $86.50 they send the prints off. Then you'll get the results in either days or weeks.Ask the ppl that who finger prints you.If you're good to go take results to DMV along with either your birth certificate or social security card.Ya it's awhole of fun.x1Heavy and justa_driver Thank this.

I dont know what state youre in but in TN it could take about 6 weeks after you get fingerprinted for them to notify you if you can get one or not. Probably around 8 weeks total

Regardless what you're considering, start the process now and get it done and over with.
Get your TWIC card too while you're dealing with similar stuffx1Heavy, Longarm and justa_driver Thank this. -
And when you go in for your fingerprints and background check, make sure you take your birth certificate or passport with you. Just a driver's license is not enough!!
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I used drivers license and certified birth certificate for identification. Took about 4 weeks in Wisconsin. That was about 4 years ago. May be longer now.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
7-10 days for both HM and TWIC in Ohio.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Happy 4th of July weekend to all you guys !

Do applicants with HMEs have to repeat the STA if they are applying for TWICs?
No. Applicants who apply for a TWIC do not have to pay the full price for the TWIC STA if they apply successful clearance results from their most recent HME STA, and as a result, the fee for the TWIC is reduced by $22.75. All TWIC applicants must pay the fees that cover the other components of the TWIC program, including enrollment and card issuance. Applicants are always offered the option to apply for a full-fee TWIC STA if they determine it is more cost effective to do so.
Right off the TSA website. So wait for HME to clear, THEN apply for TWIC and save some $$$.
BTW, no charge.x1Heavy Thanks this.
